Re: Single Wave from a voice

Yes. That's the single percussive impact (toohpick snap) from my first post. The problem is going to be making them look different. Once you strip away duration and quality, everything starts looking the same.

Are you still going to tell them, "This is your voice..."

Re: Can't open project file on another computer

And what happened when you tried to open the possibly damaged show on the original computer?

Re: Importing many clips for assembling stereo soundtrack

Maybe more fun than you think. Audacity doesn't have Append-Import, so there is no "A Timeline." you will be creating multiple timelines. You can import all your tracks and then use Tracks > Align Tracks > End To End (attached). Those will all play one after the other and Export that way, ...

Re: Shape of portable vocal booth matters?

DO NOT make a square box. My old office was surgically square and I could clap my hands, go for coffee and when I got back, the clap was still wapping back and forth between the walls. We had a sound room two building ago whose major feature was non-parallel, non-square walls and ceiling. It had ver...

Re: Can't open project file on another computer

The show opens without complaint, but the blue waves are flat and silent? Protect the original by moving the AUP and the _DATA folder Somewhere Else. Maybe a thumb drive? Now push the show back to the original computer. Still blank? Which virus protection do you have? One of the advances in 2.1.2 is...

Re: Can't open project file on another computer

Audacity Projects will not (as a rule) open upstream. If you create a show in Audacity 2.1.0, it will probably not open in Audacity 1.3.8. I expect the other way to work. Audacity 2.1.2 should open anything.

Re: Serious drift problem during podcast recording

external USB sound card.
That may be a little too simplified. A USB soundcard doesn't have a microphone. It would be really good to know the system as it is now used. If the performer is using a bad USB microphone, a new soundcard isn't going to do any good.

Re: troubles recording

plugged into an output rather than input. That's the simple version. A headset connection has a stereo output for headphones, but a microphone input for the microphone portion of a headset. It's set up for Skype and Chat calls. Neither connection is appropriate for a mixer. I use a Behringer UCA202...
