Re: Stereo recording the same in both channels
More than one poster connected the USB as required and then connected the analog turntable cables to the computer Mic-In in addition. Then they tried to capture the turntable via Mic-In. That's almost always going to be mono, if the sound survives at all. It's certainly possible to miswire a turntab...

And just to cover it, LF Rolloff only works as designed with the Equalization Length slider all the way up—8191. If the slider is anywhere else, the effect becomes sloppy.

Re: audio input from stereo into imac, line in vs. usb
Inside your Mac is the same kind of chip to handle analog to digital that you'll find in one of these external USB interfaces. But it's missing all the USB processing and physical cables. That's the place there Blue Yeti microphones cause troubles. We know if you force the USB system to behave, man...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...
One of the other ACX requirements is to sound consistent chapter to chapter. This can conflict with having one chapter in the middle that needs additional processing to pass the robot. That's where you may need to get good at spot corrections. Steve went over your post and manually corrected small p...

Analyze > Plot Spectrum gets bigger and cooler by dragging the window bigger and bigger. Literally. Click the corner of the window on your screen and pull. More of the graphics become available. Also, the detail in the graphic goes up with the "Size" number. Pick Log Frequency because that...

Re: MIDI files
No.
MIDI isn't sound. MIDI is machine control for your instruments. If you use an interpreter or sequencer to turn MIDI instructions into sound, then yes, Audacity can capture the sound and mix to whatever you want—and Export to a sound file, not another MIDI file.

Most PC soundcards are trash. They were right there. This trick doesn't work so well in Windows.

Re: audio input from stereo into imac, line in vs. usb
I bought my last Mac new, but slightly out of date because it was the last of a series with the built-in stereo line-in (circle with two black arrows). The next newer machine doesn't have it. The 13" version of this 15" MacBook Pro has one connection that can switch in software between ste...

The Behringer is certified to work in overdubbing mode should you decide to record sound-on-sound performances.

And if the instrument doesn't have a stereo audio connection, you do what I do and use the headphone connection. I split it off to speakers and headphones, too, so I can hear what I'm doing in real time. If your computer has no stereo audio input (many don't) then you can use a stereo USB device suc...
