Re: unwanted noise while trying to record

I don't think you can "record" from an iPod via USB, so I would expect silence (if it works at all).
You can talk the iPod into playing to an external speaker system via USB, so external devices do work. I don't think you can get both sides of a chat session, however.

Re: Latency when recording to a backing track

That's machine latency. The time it takes for your voice to go round trip through the machine. Without adding hardware, I think the only way out is stop listening to yourself. Turn off playthrough. Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_]playthrough (de-select) You can get a sense of what you're going t...

Re: recording from vlc player and synthesizer simultaneously

Let me read this back to you. You want to capture the sound portion of a video which a lot of people have trouble doing and capture a live analog performance which in Windows is very difficult and do them both at the same time, which is impossible. I would do it by capturing the VLC movie as a separ...

Re: MP3

Music CDs are not MP3. I'm betting your friend got a newer player for his older truck and it can handle DATA CDs with MP3 songs on it. I keep meaning to do that with mine. Legacy players need the CD to be in actual Audio CD format. That's a real thing and it's very good quality when you can get it t...

Re: I need Help with the delay

So you have a KAT (KMPT1) percussion pad. No, probably not. That's machine latency, the time it takes for your drums to go into the computer, be processed and then come back out again. It's not adjustable. Probably the best you can do is play the basic and rhythm tracks into speakers along with the ...

Re: How to connect usb turntable output to PC router

Probably what you're really looking for is a USB to network adapter and then connect the turntable to your home network. The turntable becomes a network service. That's how my off-air television tuner works. It has an IP number and an ident. The TV software in my computer knows how to go looking for...

Re: Remove imported tracks

Audacity > file > new.

Should open a fresh Audacity window. You can also "x" out all the tracks (on the left), but Audacity will try to remember all your old tracks....

Re: Something else that confounds me ...

This may be the place for gentle compression over all the clips so your RMS (loudness) values wander, but wander inside the two ACX limits. And yes, that was my experience, too. With a straight dynamic microphone and close delivery, the voice density and loudness was just about right, but I don't kn...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...

Where's your last test voice clip? People with thin voices or overly bright microphones have a lot of trouble trying to make all three numbers at once. Please make a new clip and post it. I widened out the time values in the recommended clip page. You should hit 20 seconds now instead of only 10. ht...

Re: setting recording level to avoid over-driving

When recording streaming media on my laptop How? Special software package? That's not a natural thing for Windows 7 machines to do.The legacy machines recorded Stereo-Mix and I believe that would respond to volume controls, but since you're recording the computer playback, it's the playback control...
