Re: Possible to sound better?
As above, Noise Gate is not easy to use and if you use it wrong, it can give you chopped, robot voices, pumping sentences or tails on your words. ACX calls that Excessive Processing (one of a variety of things that can cause that) and if it's bad enough, they will bounce a submission. You are in fuz...

Re: Concert Band Recording
Back to the rock bands. What's good for them?
My personal preference is the large, economy size of get somebody else to do it.

Re: preferences clavinova using midi cables
Missed one. Chances are good the high volume signal at the headphone connection is going to overload the Mic-In of the laptop. That sounds crunchy or sometimes you get blue waves that only go half-way up. They stop at 50%. If you don't have a blue Stereo Line-In (most machines don't), then you're st...

Re: Volume of edit doesn't match original track
Just to be clear, you live recorded two voice tracks and the volumes of the tracks don't match?

If you want it to retain all your preferences and settings, just install it.
If you want to burn it off, hose it down and start over, say so. The installer will ask you if you want to keep your preferences. Say no.

Re: analyse/contrast tool stopped working
Without stooping to Help-Desk-Speak too much, when was the last time you restarted your machine?
What is your Windows version and which Audacity do you use? Current version is 2.1.2 available here:

Re: Concert Band Recording
It's a lovely recorder and it has XLR connections on the bottom as well as 48 volt phantom power for microphones that need it. Now all you have to worry about is which microphones and microphone placement. Keeping in mind if you need stereo, you'll need two of everything. Several people make attenua...

Re: Help! I wish to record static from FM radio headphone j
If it's an actual FM radio, I would play it into your laptop built-in microphone in a quiet room. That's by far the simplest way to record real life. You may need to turn off Windows Enhanced Services. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements Inter-station...

It may take you longer to read through the advice than you have between now and the show.
Good luck.

Re: Concert Band Recording
Recording a band has nothing to do with Audacity or post production although there are hints. Microphones and capturing a live band performance is extraordinarily difficult. It's best if you have access to the audience mix. Do you? Zero people walk away from a band performance recorded in the audien...
