Re: Importing cd's then exporting to Hi bit rate MP3
Audio on a CD is not in conventional sound file format. They got the most room and highest fidelity they could by leaving out much of the conventional drive and file management. You can rip a CD with a CD ripper program such as CDex or equivalent. I believe iTunes for Windows can do that. DO NOT get...

Re: Heavy clipping and whole frequency band missing
I plug that special purpose microphone into the Mic-In of whatever computer I decide to use. I have an old laptop with a partially broken screen. It's not much good for anything else. I jam the microphone part into my ear (the ear part is adjustable). Start Audacity, start recording and announce the...

Greenpoint?
In any of those combination were you able to record the laptop built-in microphone? It would be a kick in the head to discover the laptop won't record anything ever.
This is an extension of the "too close to the problem" problem.

Re: Muffled voice when using Audacity
Step one might be to make sure you're recording from the right microphone. It seems stupid, but this isn't a newbie problem. I set up a terrific podcast system and everything worked perfectly, except some people couldn't hear my music. Turned out, I was using the laptop built-in microphone instead o...

My actual quote has a question mark. I was asking about thoughts from posters, not a firm recommendation. That's the kind of near miss that causes problems.

This is where you buy them dinner and see if they can make it work for you. We can't always perform miracles across multiple time zones. Sometimes in-person hands-on is good.I'm shocked because I know people with this microphone was able to make it work for them.

Re: Concert Band Recording
what tmgallagh means by a concert band. Drums only. We have those. Venice Beach Drum Circle. http://venicebeach.com/the-venice-drum-circle/ It wouldn't be that hard to mic either. If you do it exactly right, you can get the crashing surf behind you. If that fails, record some crashing surf and put ...

This is another place where meeting ACX requirements with some margin can be handy. We do know that people who pass each chapter are published authors, but it's less clear how they got there. It's even less clear if ACX checks it that way. We do know that it's possible to get some leeway in the requ...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...
You probably meant to say "No longer than 120 minutes...." Your sentence seems to say they no longer care about time and chapter breaks. They do.You can find the submission requirements here. No longer the 120 min, 1 chapter, file size, ect............

Re: Volume of edit doesn't match original track
Thanks for your prompt response. And you did go into Windows to check for those settings, right? Windows conferencing is completely able and willing to set recording characteristics to suit itself ignoring what you want or need. Windows machines aren't plain white, generic machines any more. They c...
