Re: Suitable boom?
made up with no right angles. It's not always possible to do that with a small room (that has hats and coats in it). If you have a limited amount of foam or soft acoustic material (furniture moving pads) start with dampening opposing surfaces. There's just nothing like sound bouncing back and forth...

Re: Constant error since upgrade to Audacity 2.1.2
How old? Noise Removal in the older versions of Audacity had some serious issues and was in my view, "use free," although some people loved it in limited application. The newer Noise Reduction, besides having a name that more accurately reflects what it does, actually does work. I wouldn't...

Re: isolating sounds to extract conversation
We can't take a performance apart into individual instruments or voices. We can't isolate anything, particularly in a car environment where there's no simple stereo to work with. Last year on April First I posted a "fake" sound filter that claimed to be able to do that: change a very messy...

Re: Volume of edit doesn't match original track
I doubt Windows would show you sound effects for Focusrite True, but the complaint is the poster didn't change anything but the sound changed. That's classic Windows enhancements and worth investigating. 6dB is a significant change. I don't think someone having a bad day and getting 6dB quieter is ...

Those are convenient shortcuts. There's always the actual mixer option. The small mixer shown will mix four microphones and one stereo instrument (or combinations) into a stereo show. Digitize and record. The down side there is no ability to take it apart and remix it later. http://kozco.com/tech/au...

Re: Scarlett Solo + Shure 55SH II, Low volume but useable
I can click on my Mic input level meter in Audacity, and adjust my mic input dead on, before I start to record. ... In Windows. The Mac system as a rule has no provision to scale or boost. In the System panels, the controls are gray. Audacity gets its work from the System, no matter which computer ...

Re: Possible to sound better?
There is the possibility that your equipment is doing what it's supposed to do and changing it will only dance around the edges. No silver bullet to make everything OK. If you naturally produce odd mouth sounds and have trouble with volume and consistent presentation, you may spend a lot of time cor...

Just for an overview, I'm betting we all think his setup should work very well. Nothing jumps out as a connection mistake. I think I'd be doing it just exactly the same way you did. It is a puzzlement why it doesn't work. There is one problem. Give us the address of the information for the one you o...

Make as good and loud test recording as you can, stop, apply Effect > Normalize (as below) and then Analyze > ACX Check.
-- Effect > Normalize: [X]Remove DC, [X]Normalize to -3.2 > OK
What happens?

Macs don't use the Audacity recording slider for digital input as a rule. Since Audacity doesn't apply filters or effects in recording, you pretty much have to get it right before the computer.
