Re: Removing Noise from Audio File (Noise Only in Voice)

By posting a sample on the forum, I mean the raw, unprocessed sound file you get from the producer, not the damaged one.

Re: Removing Noise from Audio File (Noise Only in Voice)

I've googled and cannot find a method with Audacity. That's because there isn't one. The first few seconds of the recording, there is no Buzzing/Static/Hissing. Which is upside down. The Profile step in Noise Reduction needs a significant segment of Pure Noise with no voice in order to work. If the...

Re: fade- overlap track?

Of course you can - see Crossfade Clips. Oh. That's messy. The show gets shorter when you do that, right? I've had to explain this to too many people who don't understand crossfading in either audio or video. I'm almost finished with my 30 minute show except I need to put a crossfade in the middle....

Re: Something else that confounds me ...

Tube preamps are mostly a marketing thing as executed. But. A performer at work swore by (and occasionally at) his Gates microphone amplifier. The smooth, mellow sound isn't all tube. You're actually listening to the transformers at both ends. The expensive, heavy audio transformers. And that's not ...

Re: Something else that confounds me ...

Stand-alone mic-pre and converters such as this are chronically low on gain. I note that they provide, on average, 40dB of gain which is simply not enough for dynamic (moving coil) or unamplified microphones. I have never used my Shure X2U or Behringer UM2 at anything other than full up. I complaine...

Re: How to find which frequency occurs the most

I'm going with no. There are no convenient tools to do that. It would have to be written. I note that any interference, buzz or hum from any source will automatically become the dominant frequency, no matter how low a volume. So pick a quiet segment of the file and Analyze > Plot Spectrum. Koz

Re: isolating sounds to extract conversation

If anything that's actually worse with echo cancellation and transmission errors on top of everything else. So, still no. The "telephone filter" probably isn't going to do any good, either because it's already been through a phone. i can stop them by letting them know i am aware of their g...

Re: Constant error since upgrade to Audacity 2.1.2

So 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 worked perfectly?

Re: fade- overlap trak?

And just because everybody gets this wrong, you can't do this with one track. A crossfade has two different songs audible at the same time and so the two songs have to be on different tracks. See instructions.

Re: isolating sounds to extract conversation

If it's in your voicemail, why is it competing with your car noises? Play it at home where it's nice and quiet and if you need to, record it with your laptop built-in microphone and Audacity. We're not recording Katy Perry, here. Maybe we don't understand how you got your sound track.
