Re: How to make a convincing telephone voice
make it almost unintelligible somehow It's at that exact point I would want to see the script setup. Telephone operator's voices were aggressively not distorted. They went to a lot of trouble to make the voices clear and intelligible, including making the voices female. That wasn't an accident. Why...

Re: Trying to remove a horrible echo
Sorry for getting off-topic from Audacity That's a semi-joke. My "thing" is before and after Audacity. Not during. Its hard to wander too far off, but if you do, we'll tell you. Our AV setup is currently super "wonky" and is band-aided right now because some parts have failed on...

Re: No Sound on Mac
What he said.
The Mac has to know it's there before Audacity sees it.
The control panel in the Mac has a little volume meter. That has to work, too.

Re: Trying to remove a horrible echo
It's not a classic echo because the main sound and the secondary sound are almost exactly the same. I found a sound at about 42 seconds where the desired show sound was brief and alone. The second blob is the damage nearly exactly 0.2 seconds later. Screen Shot 2020-12-10 at 8.29.52 AM.png Note they...

Select the work from the very end of the track. Note the duration of the work > Copy
Select that exact duration at the end of the first conversation (drag backwards) > Delete > Paste.

Re: How to mute monitoring of live audio during rec playback?
You must have a re-direct in there somewhere. Line-In is designed to go down the recording pathway to [Some Software Recorder] and full stop. It doesn't normally go any further. The speakers or headphones are designed to respond to sound from a player, internet music, or sound generator. They usuall...

Re: Audacity not responding
Someone will correct me, but I'd be really surprised if your show ever came back. Windows Update changes the computer software around. This isn't the same computer you were using when the update started. It's very serious.

Re: Audacity not responding
You do still need to do Windows updates. This just lets you do them when you want instead of in the middle of a production.
