Re: Other Compressed Files>WAV>U-Law are saving as AIFF file

file that is created is an .AIFF files.
Just to cover this, Windows famously doesn't let you see filename extensions. How do you know?

It's possible, but I'm pretty sure WAV won't allow odd formatting like that. Maybe it will.

Re: Should one take out all breathing sounds?

Many USB microphones will not work at 3 or 4 foot distances to extend the kitchen table model. They will work very close-up which is where a lot of mouth noises come from. It's a juggling act.

Re: Can I adjust the amount of "jump" when scrolling lefty/r

If you're complaining about Audacity's thing of automatically flipping screens (I would) you can turn that behavior off in preferences.

Back to the kitchen table. If you pushed your head against somebody's face while they were speaking, you'd hear all sorts of trash. Unfortunately many microphones won't work at long distances.

It's possible to play a known, published song. We're not going to sell it.

Sorted itself or you did something different to clear it? It's a forum, not a help desk. Did you run into Windows Enhanced Services? That's pretty common for someone recording music in Windows for the first time. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements Koz

Audacity famously doesn't do surveillance or forensics very well. Those are your Google search terms.

Re: Cassette tape to PC

Assuming you want to make an Audio CD, the duration limit is about 78 minutes. You can Pause recording "P" key, and start it up again after you flip the tape over. That will give you one long performance at export. You can stop dead at the end of the first side of the tape and then Append ...

Re: De Essing on Audacity

Of course, the equalizer never claimed to Solve the World's Problems. Just the worst ones and it uses easily discoverable targeted frequencies. I'll try that solution when I get back. It occurred to me the level or slice control is actually answering a question nobody asked. It's not at what level s...
