Re: Can not open AUD file
Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. A Project has an AUP file which tells Audacity what to do with all that stuff in the _DATA folder. You should be able to double click the AUP file and the show should open. The AUP file and _DATA folder have to be in the same location or director...

Re: missing data file(s)
The AUP file is a text file and you can open it in any text editor and read it (it's in XML semi-English language). The actual sound should be in the _DATA folder. It's not a file. Audacity writes the AUP file last, so it thinks the _DATA folder is good to go. Search the machine for the name. Did yo...

Re: Normalizing files in batch mode
adjust the volume.. I have about 5000 audio files I would like to normalize. You said two different things there. Effect > Normalize doesn't set volume of the work. It works on sound peaks, such as the tips of the blue waves. Not loudness. That's why the ACX AudioBook people have two different spec...

Re: Pluck Generator
There is Effect > Change Pitch so you can do it in post production. In general, anyone advocating an Audacity program change is advised to take a number and get on line. However you may have stumbled into a fortuitous event. The Click Generator is up for renewal. One of the considered options is spl...

OS-X 10.6.8. Snow Leopard. How full is your hard drive? Go > Computer. Control-Click: Macintosh HD (or whatever you called it) > Get INFO. Do you like to leave things running in the background instead of closing them? Do you have a live Skype session active or running in the background? Chat? Koz

There's a tool that put all the critical ACX measurements in one INFO panel. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Analyze_Plug-ins#ACX_Check Download it and install it as a plugin. Analyze > ACX Check There's no contest between that and struggling step-by-step through Contrast and Amplify. This...

Re: Audacity not recognising USB audio interface
Sure looks like you fried your UCA202.
Being obsessive, I would unplug the mixer's RCAs from the UCA and listen with my headphones.

This won't blow your ears off, but there should be sound with the mixer run normally.

If we're repeatedly missing it, then you need to be more specific exactly what you want and why.

Re: Simultaneously Make and Record a Sound?
I'm not so sure that's what the problem is. That solution is assuming you made the tone last week or some time in the past. You can't generate a tone live at the exact time you record some performance. All you can do is play an existing tone back.
That may work for you.

Re: Strange sound when recording
There is another condition that can cause this. If you have DC "wandering" or very low level hum on your voice, you may not hear it in normal production, but you won't be able to edit or cut two different pieces of performance together without thumps and clicks. Further it's the luck of th...
