Re: Removing ticking noise
If it isn't obvious by now, make the show come out right as you're doing it is a Really Big Deal. There's a universal rule that post production editing takes five times the length of the show. It can get worse, but the first time you decide to "clean it up just a little bit," you're dead. ...

Re: Removing ticking noise
The noise isn't there long enough to make a good profile. If you were obsessive enough, you could find and copy a bunch of clicks into one track and use that for the profile. You could duplicate one click a bunch of times, drag-select the whole bunch and make the profile. That seems crazy, but it's ...

Re: Recording quality not as good as source
Plain Stereo Mix is not the best way to capture on-line content. What that does is send the sound almost all the way through the soundcard to the speakers, turn it around and bring it back in through the recording pathway. It picks up all the digital and analog errors along the way. If you greatly o...

Re: Is there a number of tracks limit in a project?
UNDO is what kills you. Audacity has to save the whole show multiple times. I think that goes to the hard drive, but memory has to handle everything else. How much memory do you have? And keep one eye on your hard drive. It's worth occasionally saving The Whole Project as a different name. How upset...

Re: Uploading 2.1.2. Lost Audio CODEC USB options for device
Not everybody is on FioS. If you're sharing a WiFi connection or are on the very end of a DSL, you could have very degraded data service. I think it's still true the farm where I grew up in the middle of New York State has zero data service, from anybody. There is a magic number worth paying attenti...

Re: Samson Meteor - Weird Disturbance
USB data noise is making its way into the analog audio pathways And just to inject a little ray of sunshine, it's also possible your computer USB noise is a lot worse than normal. The USB connection is intended for external devices and most of them don't care. Really, would you know if your USB mou...

a process would be well established by now We can put a man on the moon.... There is one way to do this. Chris's Compressor was designed so he could listen to opera in the car. He couldn't deal with the volume variations between the acts and segments of the show. Turn the volume up...turn the volum...

Re: trouble with time/length showing up on media player
I would probably export from Audacity as WAV (Microsoft) instead of directly into Windows Media. Compressed or proprietary sound formats can create problems since Audacity relies on external software for the conversions. In addition, Audacity internal, WAV (Microsoft) and Audio CD have the same unco...

Dialup?I'm ten and a half hours away from completion.
Connect your USB device first, let it settle down and then start Audacity. Audacity checks for new devices when it starts. You can force a device check with Transport > Rescan...

Re: Can not open AUD file
An Audacity Project will retain the timeline structure of your show. If you start with multiple stacked performances when you save the show, that's what will open up. Projects save all that, but will not save UNDO. Generally, you can select a track by clicking just above MUTE and File > Export Selec...
