Re: Hiss only, no audio when importing video-audio media

People occasionally arrive on the forum telling us about Audacity videos they produced!! Cool, right? Then we look through the production and point out all the errors and then, when a new version of Audacity comes out, we drop them a note they have to make the videos all over again. Each time you ed...

Re: transferring audio files from ZOOM HN4

In times past, you could plug your H4N (Not HN4) into the computer and there is an H4 setting where you tell it to do File Management instead of being an External Microphone. After that, the H4 should mount itself on the OS-X desktop. Transfer your brains out. Let us know if it worked and which syst...

Re: Buzzing Noise When Recording in Audacity

Post some of it.

You should stick to stereo and not go much over ten seconds. Forget the part about mono. That's for voice recordings.

We do need the two seconds of clean noise.

The forum will tell you if it's too big.

Re: behringer uca222 w/windows10

I'm pretty sure Windows can do that. Dig in the Windows sound setup panels and make sure it's not forcing a mono mix. I don't think the UCA222 is capable of doing that and Audacity doesn't apply effects, filters or corrections during recording. If you need heavier help, we should wait for a Windows ...

Re: Buzzing Noise When Recording in Audacity

Stereo Mix enabled. We can start there. Stereo Mix is the tool used to record sound originating inside the computer . That's the tool to record YouTube sound and other internet generated content. It's the last thing you want when you want to record a mixer or other local content. It's possible you'...

Re: How do I extract same part from two different V of song?

Probably not. You have two different songs and I don't mean they're in different languages. I mean the language change causes the music compression algorithm to change everything , not just the voices. So the music may be the same to your ears, but it's usually different enough to make it almost imp...

Re: Recording new track overdubs existing tracks

You might look at Product Upgrades. Audacity 2.0.3 is very old. The current model is Audacity 2.1.2. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ I know WinXP is comfortable as an old shoe, but unless you have the Commercial Bank version, it's leaky and prone to attacks and foreign invasion. It's f...

Re: Recording new track overdubs existing tracks

If you are overdubbing, then play existing tracks should be selected. Make sure Software Playthrough is not selected in that same panel. If the last thing you did was record something from YouTube or other on-line service, you may be recording "everything on the computer" instead of just y...

Re: Can I adjust the amount of "jump" when scrolling lefty/r

Sure you do. Command-3 zooms out a little bit. I only ever use three zooms. This is a pre-baked note: Zoom (Mac) -- Drag-select something on the timeline and zoom into it. Command-E -- Zoom out a little bit. Command-3 -- Zoom out full. Command-F -- Shift-ScrollWheel will shift the timeline view left...

Re: Removing ticking noise

not sure why that has to be said. Too many people record in their live, noisy living room or don't take care at the recording step based on being able to "clean it up" later in Audacity. Most times, no. perhaps what I'm asking for isn't really possible. Suppressing vinyl clicks and pops i...
