Re: Monitoring using PreSonus Firebox - clacking problem
This should be just the most fun. You can't post any of the noise so we can listen because Exports are clean. in headphones and on playback meter The Audacity playback meter? If it's a speed or data race condition, you can find that out by restarting the machine and don't let any other programs star...

Re: Cannot (1) save or export, (2) move clip, (3) trim clip
I am using Audacity 2.12 on a Mac running 10.9. We should probably hit that first. There is no Audacity 2.12 or OS-X 10.9. There is a fake Audacity 2.12 that doesn't work very well, so if that's really what you have, we need to know that. I'm using Audacity 2.1.2 and I'm typing on an OS-X 10.9.5 ma...

Re: Recording levels
The short answer is no, and your experience is perfectly normal. We recommend peaks at about -6dB on the bouncing light sound meters and 50% on the blue waves as you record (they measure the same thing different ways). That's so you have room to screw up by getting too loud or too soft. Too loud in ...

Re: Navigate Audacity Playback
Audacity will play from wherever you click on the time ruler over the blue waves. Audacity won't "scrub" if that's what you mean. You can't whip the cursor back and forth at random and have the playback follow you. That and the zoom and navigation tools are as good as it gets. These are th...

Re: new computer: high-pitch noise to playback [SOLVED]
He seems to be totally clueless Audio is the last vestige of technical black magic. People who can go for ten minutes about video oversampling and display frame rates go all "deer-in-headlights" when you want to add sound. Sound without the picture is a radio show or podcast. Picture with...

Re: Clicking problem in audio.
There maybe an adjustment you can do during recording to clear that. If you already tried the vinyl pop and click tools on the existing show, then I don't know that I have anymore ideas. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#skips http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ma...

Re: I dont want to record audio playback
Skype and Audacity Do Not Get Along. Skype aggressively sets its own sound adjustments and pathways. That's the secret of its success. It works no matter what else the computer is doing. I would close Skype and restart the computer. Make sure Skype didn't start by itself. Run Audacity and see if the...

Re: I dont want to record audio playback
An AUP is not a stand-alone sound file. It's the manager for a Project. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg You need both to make a show. We normally need something like that as a clue to the problem, but I don't think it's going to help in this case. You're perfectly clea...

Re: new computer: Audacity adds a high-pitch noise to playb
In fuzzy generalities, 48000 sample rate is for television and video editing. Most of my recording work was at 48000 because I knew the very next office after mine was Video Editorial. 44100 is the sample rate used in Audio CDs. It's the generic sample rate used in the Audacity default and is genera...
