Re: "Error while opening sound device" with WASAPI loopback
What happens when you unplug the headset and try to make it work with just the laptop built-in microphone and speakers or headphones.(You may need to mute speakers to avoid feedback.) I can hear the Windows elves telling you update to the latest sound drivers for your headset. In the event it's an o...

Re: Audio Issue
There is no Audacity 2.1. Did you mean Audacity 2.1.0? That's the one I've been using. That's important. There are some bogus Audacity programs with odd numbers. That's a non-rational list. That whole pile is capable of producing a fine show without the Behringer UCA-202. Why is it there? As a first...

Re: repair dropouts
But none of the silence detectors I've found have such a setting. Too specific. If you were to develop such a tool, Audacity stands ready to consider your submission. You didn't hear back from the content developers? Maybe they know and they're just getting tired of hearing about it. ACX/AudioBook ...

See if there's anything in either of these to help.

Re: Double effects listed in menu?
Typically, Audacity will open earlier Projects. If you have critical content, it's not a bad idea to Export as WAV (Microsoft) as well.Don't know what I'll do when I run into an old version file to work on but that's another story.

Re: Double effects listed in menu?
I make copies of all the .ny effects and filters files I install and put them in a separate backup folder outside of the Audacity program or applications folders. If you have access to a backup of an earlier Audacity, you can copy out add-on files from the Audacity plugins folder.

Which microphone/interface combinations are you experimenting with?

Re: Max and Render time is out of control (Windows 10)
This is almost the word for word scenario from the video forum when the poster is running out of hard drive space. Are you? I've been doing this forever and now, for no apparent reason..... You said something very dangerous there. You are not saving your show as an AUP. You are saving an Audacity Pr...

Re: Double effects listed in menu?
I get that. I intentionally have two different versions of Audacity on my machine. 2.1.0 and 2.1.2. Notice there are a different number of dots after each duplication. That's how you select between them. That's also why it makes you pick from the file structure. That one's easier to tell which one's...

Re: Best equipment to use with Audacity
I get fabulous sound quality that makes my average voice sound good and a noise floor of -80 dB, which is excellent. Also maybe unbelievable. -96dB is the maximum atomic vibration level noise floor possible. Hitting -80dB with a casual setup, while maybe doable, is highly suspect. I think you left ...
