If you're planning on overdubbing or sound on sound, the wired headphone is very important. You can't listen to the computer for overdubbing. The live sound will almost always have an echo or delay and you can't stop it. You have to listen to the Solo.

Re: guitar not recording but microphone is
Plug your headphones into the Solo. You may need an adapter for this depending on your headphones. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/HeadphoneAdapter_3-5mm_6-5mm.jpg Switch the Solo to Direct Monitor ON and turn up the Monitor knob. Input 2 should be set to INST. Turn up the #2 GAIN knob. As S...

Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
Are you saying that Windows 10 computers changed the Windows Sound Driver Manager to accommodate some problem with Google? No. I'm saying Windows may have changed something to patch an Operating System Vulnerability which might allow evil software to break in and end life on earth as we know it. Do...

Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
I patched your post. Drag-select a quote and click the quotation mark button at the top of the text frame. It makes it much easier to keep up with who said what to whom if they are a different color. You had all the symptoms of a playback problem and I took a wild stab. And this may be a good time t...

Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
She also narrates from that text so, there are two windows running. So there are two sound programs running at the same time? Audacity is not fond of that. Or did I misunderstand? I'm not suggesting that any one of those things could be causing the problem, but it's best not to skip any steps or ig...

Re: Zoom H2N mic accepted as a USB mic throughout my computer but won't record in Audacity
Can we assume you turn the H2n back on between 2) and 3)? Does the H2n power up when you connect the USB cable? You haven't posted back so I assume you are still having difficulties. Generally, when a poster stops having trouble we never hear from them again. This can be a sore point if the poster m...

Re: fill track with paste
I would have bet there was a way to use your drum sound in Generate > Rhythm. I know this was a discussion a while back. Generate > Rhythm got so complicated I couldn't figure out how to make a simple metronome. "I don't need 3/4 slide/swing. I just need it to go 'tick, tick, tick.'" Maybe...

Re: After recent Windows Update, strange static when listening to what I just recorded
gets worse and worse on subsequent listenings. You have one show played back on Audacity and it gets worse every time you play it? The good-ish news may be the show is OK and the playback is damaged. Can you export WAV (or even MP3) and play it on something else to check? I just spent an hour putti...

Re: Unable to record voice
Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input.
What are the names of the things in that list?
Is one of them "Something Something USB?"
Select that and play a tape. Does the panel sound meter jump like in the picture?
