Re: Protecting a Track
It seems the poster has conflicting requirements and that's the real question. I need it so I can make changes very rapidly and then lock the tracks so I can't change anything by accident in the middle of a performance. It's the digital version of a property master. Change the colour of the hero's h...

Re: conversion of wav into smf
As a rule, you shouldn't use Audacity and MIDI in the same sentence. We don't manage MIDI almost at all. There are some MIDI jobs Audacity can do, but they're a minor curiosity, not useful.I haven't been able to find how to do that in the manual.

Re: Boomy sound in recording
The original didn't sound that way. It sounds OK to me. Tell us all about the original. Are you the Sax performer? Is this your band? Depending on your answers, we may be able to point to Windows filters and effects which get to the sound before Audacity. Windows machines come out of the package se...

Re: New Podcast 2 USB Microphones, No Interface...HELP
You can force a computer to manage two USB microphones badly, but not three. Your description of the show practically demands a small sound mixer. Before I dig in, please know that if you go this way, you will record a Mixed Show . All the voices on one sound file. There is no going back later to sp...

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound
They have a piezo transducer (speaker) too, but it's good all the way up to 3000Hz.

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound
Please note the phrase "Non-Inductive." You can make inductive power resistors at low cost, but they have limited use in audio. They change how they work with different frequencies. This one doesn't.

That 8 ohm resistor and a package of colored clip wires are both standard Radio Shack parts. https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-8-ohm-non-inductive-resistor?variant=5717262405 https://www.radioshack.com/collections/maker-parts-kits/products/mini-alligator-cables?variant=5717674501 You pu...

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound
Adele? Real sound. All these experiments are with sound only bats can hear. The speaker could be cooked and you would never know. Stop every so often and put music in to make sure the speaker is not smoking ruin. And no we're not making that up. One of the speaker failures is to have a mis-behaving...

And put Adele through it every so often to make sure it's still alive.

Re: Generating and playing ultrasound
Speakers fall apart in ways that are a little magic. They don't just grind to a halt. You can get the voice coil in the middle going at a different speed than the rest of the cone or diaphragm. What sound does that give you? Beats me. It's unpredictable. Then there's: "Whats that burning smell?...
