I'm betting the act of starting the tool creates a disturbance which the tool thinks is Sound. And so it starts briefly.

How much silence?

Does it happen every time you speak; at every trigger segment? The usual complaint is the trigger leaves out the first tiny bit of sound. Does it do that, too.

Left out a step. When the tool is finished, File > Export Audio. Audacity will not make an MP3 without adding special software, but the default is WAV (Microsoft) and that should play anywhere.

Open or import the song. Select the whole song by clicking just above MUTE.

Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation

Effect > Vocal Removal

These don't usually work very well for most people, so you should decide what you're going to do as an alternate.

I did not mention direct MP3 editors because I don't think they will easily add silence to files

They may not. but now that the poster is going to do production in WAV to avoid the compression damage, we're back to doing it in Audacity.
