I'm betting the act of starting the tool creates a disturbance which the tool thinks is Sound. And so it starts briefly.
There's probably no way around that.

Re: Files won't playback except through USB headphones?
Well, that was harder than it needs to be. There are no documents that tell me how the headphone amplifier is powered. That cable that snakes off the right-hand side of the illustration goes into the wall socket or power brick, right? It doesn't say that anywhere. I know where the feedback is coming...

Re: Files won't playback except through USB headphones?
I need to go back and read through that again. I know when I dropped out, we were playing posting tag and some of the messages are out of order. Isn't servicing over nine time zones fun? To be clear, running live speakers in the same room with live microphones is not recommended . the mic stands I h...

Re: Added silence at the start of voice activated recording
How much silence?
Does it happen every time you speak; at every trigger segment? The usual complaint is the trigger leaves out the first tiny bit of sound. Does it do that, too.

Re: Clicking noise - only on one side of an audio tape
line in on laptop Is it really Line-In on the laptop? Do you have a 15" MBP from about 2012? Does your connection look like this: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg If it's a more modern MBP, then you don't actually have a Stereo Line-in. You have a headset connection sim...

Re: Removing vocals Windows 10
Left out a step. When the tool is finished, File > Export Audio. Audacity will not make an MP3 without adding special software, but the default is WAV (Microsoft) and that should play anywhere.

Open or import the song. Select the whole song by clicking just above MUTE.
Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation
—or—
Effect > Vocal Removal
These don't usually work very well for most people, so you should decide what you're going to do as an alternate.

Re: How to add silence to multiple mp3 files ?
They may not. but now that the poster is going to do production in WAV to avoid the compression damage, we're back to doing it in Audacity.I did not mention direct MP3 editors because I don't think they will easily add silence to files
