Re: Track selection from single source during recording?
As a rule, Audacity will not do production in real time. So, no. We can do the split management thing. If you put the individual tracks one above the other, you can easily switch between them with the MUTE and SOLO buttons on the left. I believe you can File > Export that way and the resulting sound...

Re: Importing mov files take a very long time
It takes a lot of horsepower to decode and split movie files. What else do you have running while you're doing this work? Leaving applications running but napping in the dock doesn't count. Close everything you're not using. Recently, FireFox browser for Mac was clocked using 300% of my processor wh...

Re: Couldn't find project data folder...?
There's a more evil possibility. Some virus protection software tries to "manage" Audacity files "to help you" and can cause problems.
And way down at the bottom: Did you update your virus software when you did the OS update? Are you not the only user on your computer?

Re: Couldn't find project data folder...?
Did you change the name of the show? The name of the AUP file and the _DATA folder is burned into the programming of the AUP file. You can change it inside Audacity but not outside. Open the AUP file in notepad and read it. Look for the listing near the top called projname=" That's the real nam...

Re: I dont want to record audio playback
I'm out. We had a similar, recent posting, but he had his mixer set wrong.
I have no idea. We should wait for another elf to take a stab at it. Did you close Skype and restart? Skype can create some very serious problems with sound routing.

Re: Can anyone removed a music track from audio clip??!
That's a good as we could do. You basically flip the music track over (invert) and add it to the show. You may have to slip it side to side (Time Shift Tool) and tune the volume a bit (slider on the left), but that's all the tools we have. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/time_shifting.html Tric...

Re: Audacity does not recognize .aup Help!!!
Quick note. You saved a Project, not an AUP file. A Project has two parts. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg If you have both of those (with your name) in the same place or folder, you should be able to double-click the AUP file and the show will open. Let us know what h...

Re: Exported audio of conversation has deleted sections
I also deleted the original audacity saving so I have not got the original recording. Then that's the end of the story. Without listening to the show, we would have no way of knowing what failed. It's not as simple as it just stopped recording. It could have digital dropouts, speed problems, sample...

Re: How to double the length of a recording on Mac
We would urge not to make another MP3. If you do, the new MP3 will have lower sound quality than the original. That's the way Audacity works with MP3s. If you make a WAV type sound file, the quality will stay the same. If you do need to make a new MP3, you'll need to install the "Lame" sof...

Re: How to double the length of a recording on Mac
While you have two of them, one over the other, use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows) to push the bottom one later (to the right). They'll both play at the same time and you can tell where you are with the MUTE and SOLO buttons on the left of each track. Then use the fade, cut, etc, et...
