Re: How do you cut a portion of track out in Mac
There are two editing tools for that. Effect > Amplify and Effect > Normalize . They both "turn the volume up and down," but they have different controls. You can also slide the volume slider to the left of the blue waves. I think the exported track will follow your setting. Watch the boun...

Re: Background noise while recording cassette
This is not insurmountable. You may have asked for the wrong thing. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650.jpg This is a Behringer UCA-202 connected to my analog mixer. I have two (the adapter, not the mixer). Highly recommended. It's also certified for zero latency overdubbin...

Re: Importing mov files take a very long time
Are you using the right FFMpeg? there have been different ones and they have to match the Audacity you're using.

Re: Importing mov files take a very long time
What does Activity Monitor say when you try to open a video? That's usually an eye-opener. I think it's still true Audacity can't use more than one processor. So 100% is as good as it gets. Generally, you get 100% listing for each processor.

GoogleTalkPlugin is running. If you Force Quit, the application will just think there's an error and will try to recover. You have to uninstall it, or suspend it if that's an option. However, If it's one of the helper applications, it may not be taking up that many resources. I see one helper progr...

Very few tools work from Pause. You have to be in stop, so you have to learn the selection and management tools.
Audacity doesn't scrub like a video editor.

Zoom into the track at the edit point, make sure it's what you want and then a label there. Command-B > Enter.
Then zoom out to the whole show and drag-select from the label to the end. The label is sticky and the drag will stick to it > Delete key on the keyboard.

Re: New Olympus audio recorder but has a problem
On a different Olympus, I can turn the lights on and off with a system setting. But I can't do it one at a time. I think that's broken. looks like I may have to send it back again The English didn't work. The first part of the post says you were happy with one and you decided to buy a second one. Th...

Re: Multi-track volume issues due to single track
The size of the blue waves doesn't change when this happens, right, just the sound gets messed up. Look in Windows and make sure it's not running playback filters or effects to "help you." I got stuck with a new Windows machine that wouldn't pass plain, normal sound tests. Turned out it wa...

Re: How to double the length of a recording on Mac
Duplicate just creates two more tracks vertically. Exactly. That's the "second show" you will be pushing to the right. A stereo show is two blue waves, Left and Right top to bottom. Duplicate will give you two stereo shows. You can select the bottom show by clicking just above MUTE. The s...
