Re: Background noise while recording cassette
Red/Rouge is almost always Right, The Other One is almost always left. bLack (English) or bLanc (French-White). The only time this has ever failed me was a shipment of adapter cords we got which was wired wrong. Rather than send them back, I put correct coloured plastic over the connectors. They're ...

Re: Recording with speaker Off?
Self Recording is generally done by recording the speaker signal in the soundcard. The computer sends speaker sound out to the soundcard and then special programming turns it around and brings it back in for recording. And yes, it's a common problem that you can't turn the speakers off during record...

Re: Importing mov files take a very long time
Or, they simply wait for the file to export, ignoring the hours remaining suggested in the export dialogue. That does not follow. Only if the customary import fails would you bother to look at the import dialog. If everything worked as normal, the import succeeds and then it's right on to the next ...

Re: Strange: Applying effect removes waveform
Audacity doesn't understand network connections, delays and switching. It works best if all the work, files and program are on one machine. You may be able to force it to work temporarily, but when the network changes because of load or speed variations, it could fail again. It's a particular proble...

Re: Importing mov files take a very long time
There is a sister forum posting on Windows where they had export problems and were able to return to stable operation by rolling Audacity back to 2.1.0.

Re: Background noise while recording cassette
Oh................great.......it's going to be replaced with a newer model.
If we cast our minds back, the transition to a Newer Model gave us Frying Mosquitoes / Yeti Curse. Older equipment didn't do that.
I can't wait...........

Re: FLAC in 2.1.2 vs. 2.1.0
Any reason not to go back to 2.1.0? http://www.oldfoss.com/Audacity.html Select the version and OS. Also take out the existing preferences, too. I'm not sure where they are in Windows. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/preferences.html#stored Audacity leaves those behind to make the normal upgrad...

Re: Importing mov files take a very long time
In other words, Very Large Spinning Metal. I have also completely deleted Audacity, rebooted, and re-installed 2.1.1. Did you take out the preference files? Audacity saves preferences and settings in a location different from the actual program. A complete "burn it off, hose it down and start o...
