Re: adding music to an existing track

I know Audacity 2.1.2 has a tool that duplicates an existing track later and thus makes it longer. But I can't find it quickly. Still looking. You can import two different clips and Audacity will stack them one above the other and play both at once. You can then use the Time Shift Tool to push the b...

Re: wasapi vs mme

MME is built in, but it will not do all jobs. If you have a job that MME will not do, then you should try WASAPI. Many times WASAPI is the only way to make a self-recording—to record YouTube or on-line sound.

Re: Audacity latest version compatibility with Windows 10

You can install Audacity and make it "start over." There's a point in the Windows installer when you get to choose to "reset preferences and settings." You might try re-installing and do that.

Re: Audacity latest version compatibility with Windows 10

There are apparently a number of fixes projected for Audacity 2.1.3. And not only in Audacity. Some of the pre-built packages and modules Audacity uses turn out to have unfortunate "features" in both Win10 and Mac El Capitan. Have you tried to fold back to an Earlier Audacity? That's not a...

Re: How do I paste into tracks without moving everything?

How long should the crossfade be? In the case of video editors, they only work like that. There's no such thing has a click or pop at an edit point. Of course, you could get into problems needing to edit with finer detail than one video frame, but you can go a very long time before you run into tha...

Re: Timer Record freezes but recording continues

Since this is a laptop, what's the possibility of heat problems? How old is it and when was the last time you took a good powerful vacuum to the vent holes?

And etc. These are still mechanical devices and can have "magic" mechanical problems.

Re: Timer Record freezes but recording continues

Have you ever tried straight recording instead of Timer Record? Timer Record may be completely beside the point. As Waxy posted up the thread, you can easily record too much and slice off what you don't need. You could even set the alarm in your SmartPhone. It would be fascinating to find that a str...

Re: Windows Vista Audacity 2.1.2 - Recording Level and Playb

You should not be recording Stereo-Mix. Stereo-Mix is also called "everything playing on the computer." If you were paying attention, you might also notice that in addition to the record, you could also hear the dogs barking next door and the refrigerator noises if you have a built-in micr...
