Re: Saving files in Red Book Format
As above. In general, you can dump whatever you have into the Audio CD Authoring and Burning program and it will figure out everything else. If you find yourself worrying about exotic formats and data variations, you are totally doing it wrong. Many of us find that letting the program have its head ...

Re: Extracting Instrumental line
Most on-line music and other contend is compressed, reduced quality and smaller file sizes. Even AudioBooks and ACX services use good quality compression. They're not perfect, either.

Re: Can't use AirPlay speakers
Oh, I bet I know what happened. The speakers are not sound devices, they're network connections. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences. See if you can find the speakers. I bet they're under Network Sharing or BlueTooth , not Sound . Your AirPlay instructions should tell you what happened. Koz

Re: Condenser microphone and Audacity
Can you still send it back? I'm with him. It has two strikes against it. It uses the very possibly noisy power from the USB connection and the inexpensive, low quality voice or music connection in your sound card. We don't often condemn a microphone like this, but there are no benefits to this mode...

Re: Windows volume mutes itself during recording vinyl
Is this work music? Audacity isn't changing any settings, right? Audacity is not pressing any buttons by itself. It just records for a while and then the blue waves on the timeline mysteriously collapse to a straight line. Which Windows did you upgrade from? Newer Windows versions are automatically ...

Re: I hear only what I record
You didn't say anything about what you were recording, but the settings for what you want are in Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording. [X] Overdub is the setting that plays the existing tracks while you're recording new ones. If you have multiple tracks, you can pick what you want to listen to ...

Re: Condenser microphone and Audacity
What is the microphone? Condenser microphones need power from somewhere. They're not stand-alone like Rock Band Microphones. I have condenser microphones that I put a tiny battery in. USB microphones work from the 5 volts that comes up the cable from the computer. Larger condenser microphones work f...

Re: Volume control does not work
I'm not sure if the developers have a quick fix or setting to check. We'll ask if we see one. Audacity can play to devices other than your soundcard, and the routing doesn't have to follow Windows. For example, if you plug and unplug your USB sound device, Windows may switch to it and in general ke...

Re: How correct sound artifacts on-the-fly?
I've tried reinstalling the driver You mean you reinstalled iTunes and QuickTime? I would be looking in Windows to find out what it's doing to your playback sound. How long has it been doing this? There was a new iTunes about one or two weeks ago If it's an overload condition, you could try Boostin...
