Re: Need help with file settings
Not really sure what to do to fix the things you mention, We'll get there. We should chew on the equipment list a bit. That's a good list. Did you get it from someone? What's the computer? The rule for wall hangings if you can't deaden all the walls, is deaden each set of opposing ones. For example...

Re: Self mixing and rendering
I have no audio through headphones unless I push the button in. You need to be really, really accurate when you post your observations. You can't hear yourself performing when the button is up? Audacity > Preferences > Recording: [X] Overdub... Is that selected? Since the mixer "knows" ho...

Re: Need help with file settings
I like your voice. You have a good natural meter, presentation and pitch. I can't help wondering what it would sound like announcing a meteor hitting the earth and wiping out all life as we know it in that voice. Anyway. That's the good news. This is what a perfect recording looks like. http://www.k...

Re: Need help with file settings
Your forum submissions have to go through inspection before they actually post. That's why they don't just appear. If you stick with it long enough, that goes away.

Re: System Error
There's a lock file that gets stuck and it tells the systems not to step on a running Audacity (whether there's an Audacity there or not).
And any minute now I'm going to find out where it is.

Re: Dragging Files To Audacity 2.1.2 Unsuccessful.
Do they open up the conventional way? File > Import? We try to stay away from words like "latest" and "previous." those change depending on who and where you are. Was it Audacity 2.1.1? All Lame does is let you export an MP3 at the end of your edit. I think Macs use QuickTime Ser...

Re: Self mixing and rendering
Yes it can. The mixer has a EXT/USB TO MAIN button which will feed the Audacity overdub guide track into the mixed show. That should not be pushed. Audacity > Preferences > Recording: [_] playthrough (de-select) The other options are peculiar to Linux. The settings for self recording or recording Yo...

Re: Audio Finishing for Best, Most Even Sound
And you need to resolve that. We don't hear the weird, flat echo sound, so you're producing a show you can't hear.funny how it gives my voice only the echo and weird flat sound.
So I stand corrected, the machine shop in the background is not job one. This is. The machine shop is job two.

Re: Audio Finishing for Best, Most Even Sound
There's no echo. And there in a short sentence is one important problem. We're looking at each other saying, "What's he talking about? I don't hear any of those problems." Whatever you're doing for monitoring is lying to you. And yes, this is one shortcoming of doing troubleshooting acros...

Re: Audio Finishing for Best, Most Even Sound
It sounds like a machine shop back there. No, strike that. I know machine shops that don't make that much noise. Everything else you're doing on that clip is fixable, most of it easily, except for that. I stopped trying when I got up to 18dB noise suppression Beyond that, the voice starts getting da...
