Re: "Not Responding" and very long delays.
I probably did the installer. Is there any way to determine this? We're good. when I save, exit, and bring the recording back, the delays are still there. That's very different from the original complaint. Taking a week to open a 15-hour Project fresh is normal. Audacity Projects are saved in super...

Re: "Not Responding" and very long delays.
Now you need to throw data. Which operating system, which Audacity (all three numbers)? Early Audacity versions would not go over 13 hours, so you're (probably) in New Version Services territory.

Re: Vocals are still audible after inverting
There's an impressive list of reasons for failure. If the lead singers aren't exactly in the left-right center of the show, vocal removal won't do anything. I have a clip where the lead singer vanished, but all of his stereo special effects stayed behind giving him a ghostly voice. Also, if I didn't...

Re: Using iPhone as an external mic to record into Audacity
you can record directly to the phone and then transfer the files to the computer for editing later. That's my pick. I can feel (pressing fingers to forehead) you're going to post back and say you're actually producing a multi-point Skype podcast with several guests and the system is enormously more...

Re: Audacity on El Capitan
I do have an upgraded machine. I treated myself to a MacBook Air (two birthdays and a Christmas) and it is fully updated. OS-X 10.11.4 and Audacity 2.1.2. The benefit was being able to easily troubleshoot from the field (like I'm doing right now) and have the latest, supported Audacity. But I've nev...

Re: Audacity on El Capitan
My entire business depends on Audacity working. Then stay there. I froze two 2012 machines at 10.9.5 because of the odd reports of what happens with the 10.10 upgrade. That was the serious step, although I did lose one important program at the 10.8 to 10.9 step. There's nothing wrong with Audacity ...

Re: Using iPhone as an external mic to record straight into
No. The iPhone is neither an external microphone nor camera (that I know of). Any reason you're not just recording the show directly on the iPhone? The ideal "studio" is one you can take with you without lugging the laptop along. That and there's nothing wrong with a Mac laptop internal mi...

Re: "Not Respponding" and very long delays.
Chances are good you're waiting for Audacity to transfer the work from temporary space to the final resting place (so to speak). You can avoid that gap by saving the project once at the beginning and then go on to the final show, saving it again when you're done. Audacity will then be writing the sh...

Re: A good example of passing ACXCheck, but still producing
I think it would be useful to have a "pre-processing test". Yes, but internal to ACX-Check against the condition of conflicting results using different tools. I think more can be done with Peak. Regardless of the specification, Peak has a lower limit. A peak value of -25 or -30 could trig...

Re: Filtered sound/event activated recording
natural sounds somewhat tend to have large amplitude in low-frequencies (long wavelengths) Maybe waterfalls, ocean surf crashing and thunderstorms. Other than those, very few nature scenes feature low frequency evergy. Certainly non-nature scenes have low frequency energy. Metrobuses going by the h...
