Re: Fixing an ACX Issue
Is this a good idea ????? No. Excessive noise reduction can harm voice quality. The process isn't "free." Your voice starts getting "tight" and wine-glassy. The ACX standard is quieter than -60dB. We recommend quieter than -65dB and anything in the -70s is good to go. Are you us...

Re: recording noise
Can you post some of the voice on the forum? https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 Most lapel microphones can be installed any direction. They don't have a front. But some do. Some unusual lapel microphones have to be used with the front facing the face or they don't work rig...

Re: Recording Vocals Over an Instrumental Track
You know what causes more overdubbing problems than almost anything else? "I imported a backing track." Kiss of death right there. As you get yourself set up, Generate a simple rhythm or metronome track inside Audacity and sing or hum to that. Doesn't have to be much, just enough to prove ...

Re: Recording Vocals Over an Instrumental Track
You are overdubbing. There's two Records. Regular Record jams the new work on to the end of the old work and Shift+Record starts a new track. If that's awkward for you, you can reverse them in Audacity Preferences. They use to be backwards and nobody liked it that way. In Audacity Preferences > Reco...

Re: Clicking/Popping - At Wit's End
How close are you? You're speaking into the side of the microphone just up from the company name, right? You don't speak into the round end. You can help some of these problems by announcing a little off center. Like somewhere between A and B. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ObliquePlacement...

Re: Clicking/Popping - At Wit's End
Everybody wants to solve problems with a checkbook. I bet if you're a little messy with this microphone, you're going to be messy with a more expensive one.

Re: Clicking/Popping - At Wit's End
Never mind. This is good. You're too close to the microphone and/or you're not using a pop and blast filter. "Punching" has P Popping where the P sound splatters or explodes and is louder than it should be. There may be other problems, but that one stood out. I don't hear any obvious echoe...
