Re: multitrack overdubbing
Ah. We progress. There is a fuzzy standard for recording volume in Audacity. You should regularly peak the bouncing light sound meter to about -6 and the tips of the blue waves should be at about 0.5 (50%). http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg Is that anything like your ...

Re: can't open project
The Audacity forum will accept JPEG (jpg) and PNG as picture attachments. DOCX is a Microsoft proprietary document format and PDF generators are paid software. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityGraphic650W-500T.jpg Open the AUP file in notepad to make sure it's not blank. Did you save the s...

Re: Timer recording in background
Yes. Timer Record. Audacity has the same restrictions in Timer Record that is has in real time. If you're recording a YouTube channel (for example), You lose control of network services and both Recording and Playback sound. It's one of the reasons Audacity doesn't get along with Games, Chat and Sky...

Re: Audacity crashed and I can't recover my files!!!
One of the advantages of the newer Audacity versions is Advanced Disaster Recovery. I think that's what everybody is referring to when they said to restart Audacity. The older Audacity versions had a magic dance you had to do to prevent the program from accidentally stepping on the work files. I bel...

Re: Audio Finishing for Best, Most Even Sound
That or something like that is my guess. I got stuck with a Windows machine once with a playback effect: "Cathedral Sound."I'd guess it's Windows mixing something in with some latency?

Re: multitrack overdubbing
Yes, we got the symptoms. That's two posts now from elves who think your live guitar is there and just not loud enough. Sing or talk a test and try to make the Tascam overload light come on. "Testing in a loud voice, one, two, three. TESTING IN A LOUD VOICE!!" You may need to get very clos...

Re: Recording volume
Windows has a setting that automatically sets voice volume and sound processing for conferencing and communications. It hates music.

Re: Over Dubbing Difficulties
Headphones are required for overdubbing with a live microphone. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording: [X] Overdub should be the only thing selected. The Device Toolbar should have your microphone or microphone device selected, not Stereo Mix or any other setting usually used to record YouTube o...

Re: multitrack overdubbing
That is the normal problem. This problem is Audacity works just fine, we can't send the local microphone to the headphones. That should work with no Audacity at all.Overdubbing needs to be on, or Audacity won't send out the song while recording...
It doesn't.
