I didn't realize that last one was already submitted
Dueling posts. If you do it just right, you're constantly responding to the wrong post. Go have a nice cup of tea and let the forum settle.

Re: RCA to USB or Line In?

A cautionary note. Newer Macs may not have Stereo Line-In any more and even if your Windows machine does have stereo Line-In, it's not expected to work very well. Most machines either Mac or Windows have a microphone connection (pink) for Skype, Chat and conferencing and that's the end of the story....

Re: Any way to label single track into parts?

A note. If it is a CD, Do Not export as MP3. Use the Audacity default of WAV (Microsoft). MP3 sometimes burns tiny gaps at both ends of the song and you can't stop it. That may also limit your ability to get other personal music players to work.

Re: how to use my interface

You should also know that your device's long-form family name is Avid M-Audio fastrack. The devices in this family are designed to slide right into an Avid editing suite, room or system. Some of them have a difficult time with plain Windows installations. You may need custom software drivers to get ...

Re: how to use my interface

I removed your contact information. It's dangerous to post that on the forum. Those are just the Windows Systems used to manage sound, not the actual device. You should know that Audacity checks for sound devices when it starts. So plug in the Fast-Track first , let it settle and then start Audacity...

Re: Any way to label single track into parts?

How are you listening to it? If you're making an Audio CD, you can Export individual sections as files, but tell the CD Authoring and Burning software not to put any spaces between the songs. That's how operas and concerts are done. Chapters but no gaps.

Re: pause/stop/resume recording in Audacity

And, not to be left out, Edit-In and Edit-Out keys. Audacity doesn't have those, either. I and O keys on some video editors. Marking an In point in Audacity involves setting labels and sticky cursors.... And don't forget scrubbing. Finding cut points is far easier on other editors. You'll notice I j...

Re: RCA to USB or Line In?

Line-In is how Pando Podcast does it. The Mac on the left is their transmission computer.

Re: RCA to USB or Line In?

Macs with a stereo Line-In (on the left)... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg ...have worked very well for me. They don't have USB problems and it's one less device to worry about. I did have power noise on a very old Mac laptop, but it responded to flipping the power cord ove...

Re: filtering question / challenge (morse code )

You understand there are two different messages going on there, right? The beeps are being received even though she's not keying them, so that's the incoming message, different from what she's doing. I found the tone annoying. I can do much of it from just her clicks—classic Morse. CQ CQ CQ BE....an...
