Re: Exporting 13hr long mix
Can you Save the work as an Audacity Project? Nobody else can play those, but you won't lose the work. You can keep opening the show until you figure out the export step. Audacity Projects have two parts, the AUP file and the _DATA folder. You need both and they have to be in the same location, fold...

Re: No Sound for Speakers
According to the message next to the little speaker picture, Audacity is trying to send sound to your Realtek Digital Output. Do you have a digital sound system or digital speakers? http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device_toolbar.html I see you're also using Stereo Mix next to the microphone pictu...

Re: The absolute best way to record guitar...
Maybe I'm going back to testing the Behringer C1 "studio" condenser microphone. That would cover all the bases. Cardioid condenser microphone with adjustable USB preamp featuring instrument input, headphone connection and no frying mosquitoes whine.
Possible use in overdubbing.

Re: recording problem
Never blow into a microphone. Some microphones can be reduced to trash by doing that.

I know my voice will go through sound-proof walls and put people to sleep on the other side. It qualifies as a non-lethal weapon by the state of California, but I never caught the non-linear waveforn until now.

Your computer has a virus or other evil software. Run your virus protection software in thorough mode (it could take all night).

Re: USB Mic won't show up
Audacity checks for microphones when it starts. Restart Audacity with the microphone already plugged in and recognized by the Mac.

Re: Sudden force close on startup
At the risk of sounding like a Telephone Service Responder, you did restart the machine from a dead stop somewhere in there, right? at least 3 GB of memory. That's not a lot of drive space. What are the specifications of your hard drive? Size, Used, Remaining, etc. How long are the shows? You can di...

Re: The absolute best way to record guitar...
I think my voice is broken. UM2SoundTestMastered.wav The dinner plate and newspaper are pretty much symmetrical about the zero line, but my voice is profoundly non-symmetrical. :o I stopped a sound test a bit ago because of that effect thinking it was an equipment problem. I need to go back to my no...

Re: The absolute best way to record guitar...
No guitars. Sorry. Oddly, I do have a violin, but it's not in playable condition. I completed a sound test featuring the Behringer UM2 USB Microphone Preamplifier connected to an Electro-Voice RE-11 microphone in a quiet room. The test features: One second of holding my breath (silence-background no...
