Re: RMS 35, SOS!

I need to wait until I get home. I'm using a new machine with a new OS and a new Audacity at a coffee house through a VPN connection. It's not going well.

The coffee's good.

Re: Recording problem, please help

Nice microphone. It may or may not be a nice preamp.

Re: Recording problem, please help

And it clips at 0.5. That's important. It's not generic clipping. Is there a Focusrite Windows 10 driver or other support software? It's possible the Scarlett isn't supported under Win10. Pretend you're buying a new Scarlett. Does it say explicitly anywhere in the sales brochure it works in Windows ...

Re: RMS 35, SOS!

Can you point to the specific clip you want us to use? Or duplicate it in this thread? Pointing to a long thread doesn't always get you there.

There are certainly tricks to this, but we need to know where you're starting from.

Re: Laptop purchasing and Audacity loopback?

Ingenious, but waaaay more complicated than this should be. And unstable. Running two Audacity instances at once is not supported. There is one podcast no longer being produced who managed to regularly record both sides of a Skype call and couldn't understand what the fuss was about. He was a celeb...

Re: Extracting sound from VCDs

That's MPEG1. Or familiarly "MPEG." A piece of this format is crystal clear to you and everybody else on earth. The compressed MPEG sound format is "Layer 3." Also known as MP3. Go beat up FFMpeg and see if they still support MPEG1. Did you install FFMpeg into your Audacity? It m...

Re: RMS 35, SOS!

No, these sound corrections should not be that hard. There are several test sound clips in that thread and part of the discussion was why they didn't work very well for us. Without getting into the weeds (more) can you whip out another test? All you need is the first sentence in that posting. "...

Re: budget usb stick soundcard

THE UM2 weighs 11 oz, (317 Grams). I think the USB cable weights more than the UM2. Put a rock on it so the wind doesn't blow it away. Since it will convert from almost anything to almost anything else, works from USB and doesn't whine. It would be very hard to beat for field operations or a small s...

Re: How to open a complete audio project

Describe the show. I can't visualize what you're doing, either. I need it to play as one show, "but when I played it, all were playing together." Ummm. What? Is it possible you recorded several segments meant to go one after the other and instead, they play all at once? That can be fixed. ...
