Re: Can I increase the volume of a wav file?

I do it with Chris's Compressor. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ This is a volume manager that can be set to simulate the transmitter sound processors at an FM station. For a long time I recorded a radio show off the air in real time so I could listen ...

Re: Fixing volume controls post-recording

Can you post the whole show somewhere we can get it? DropBox? That's a lot better than us batting messages back and forth.

Re: Very loud buzzing/squeaking sound

just everywhere and weirdly enough, the sound was not changing at all. That's good. That means the buzz and funny noises are probably not coming from the stuff on your desk or in your room. i was little bit lost reading some of them That's OK. Sometimes more than one forum elf posts and we talk to ...

Re: Fixing volume controls post-recording

Leveller has a great name, but it's one of the older tools. It works by taking an ax to your sound and whacking away at it until it's about the right volume. It's kept around (by demand) because there is no better way to make an Air Traffic Controller voice. "Roger Air New Zealand. Clear for de...

Re: Very loud buzzing/squeaking sound

All true, but that doesn't account for sound errors that change over time.

I recorded it multiple times and finally got a good one.

That's not bad design. That's something broken.

Re: Marking unwanted sections of interview

Creating a label and adding text to it are linked. The text can be a carriage return instead of plain text, but I don't think there's any way to do nothing—to go around it. You can't avoid the text step.

That doesn't appear in the Subject Index, Managing Projects or Advanced Topics.

Didn't we do this dance once before? It's buried where no one will ever find it?

Re: Very loud buzzing/squeaking sound

That was my finding. The buzz goes away but the overall rushing rain sound goes up. The poster commented on this effect. I have had troubles like this with a computer microphone bad connection. Some soundcards treat the outer shield in the microphone cable as an active connection rather than simple ...

Re: Very loud buzzing/squeaking sound

The Trust microphone is an unbalanced computer microphone. It uses two wires for the sound and it's important to have good connection when you plug it in. Even if you do everything right, putting one too close to a monitor or even the computer itself can make it be noisy. Higher end microphones use ...

Re: Recording stuck and not recording. Audacity 2.1.1 Window

Windows 10 was not a simple Windows update. It's Really New and it's possible you may need Windows 10 drivers or software. Whatever you do with on-line support has to say Windows 10 in those words. "Works in Windows and Mac" or some broad claim such as that doesn't do it. The latest Audaci...
