What's the Audacity version number?

MIDI isn't sound, although it probably seems like it because of all the background processing. It's machine control. Audacity is not a WAV editor. It's an audio production editor. If you don't make a Project, Audacity thinks you're not done.

I think it's still true Audacity is a single core application.

If you had to shut down the computer, it's possible it may wake up without the turntable. Audacity checks for new USB devises when it starts. So if you wake up in the wrong order, the turntable may vanish, You can restart in the right order, or Transport > Rescan.

You could do that. It's certainly possible to use several different Audacity versions (just not at the same time).

Still, Noise Removal wasn't a stand-alone utility that you can plug back in. It was one of the burned-in home effects.
