Re: Looking for effect and edit advise

What edits should I do to recover a normal recording Edit your way to a phone and schedule a reshoot. You hit one of the non-recoverable errors. Overload produces digital sound that does not follow the performer. It appears you may be further than 3dB hot. You should test your recorder and make sur...

Re: OT but I need help in cutting long interviews

It's nice to think you can place markers at the important bits and have half the editing done, but that only sheers off the junk, and it only works if the interview doesn't get insanely interesting near the end. The end of the show becomes a forest of markers. You still have to make a show from what...

Re: Audacity Recovery Error

Most people mean the wrong thing when they say "Audacity files."

An Audacity show or Project is an AUP manager text file and a _DATA folder with the same name.

Re: Tascam DR-05 noise

We may be able to tell you if it's normal or not. What kind of noise? Rain in the trees soft hiss fffffffffffff? Voice? Music? Make up a 20 second voice test. This is the one I tell people to use for AudioBook testing. It's rough to judge noise cold. It's a lot easier when you have a real voice to c...

Re: How to know the starting time of the recording data?

You got several strikes against you. Unless you got recorders with good quality timebases (I don't. Mine are junky USB recorders) you can't start with an external player and "put the times back in." At least not easily. And strike two, MP3 is not the celestial gift for timing and precision...

Re: NEED HELP MAKING A SONG!

The good news is I can clearly see now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. See what I did there? Trying to create a song note by note is hard, trying to do it with non-musical sounds is a career move or a job you give to somebody you don't like very much. I don't think there's even ...

Re: Low volume reproducing a file

Which numbered version of Audacity? it seems everything alright, visually. So the blue waves are normal and the sound meters bounce in the upper-right quarter or so of their range? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg If you have low (leftward) sound meters or flat-line ...
