Re: Noise Floor
I analyzed the raw clip and found it a little weak. -- Select the whole clip or show by clicking just above MUTE. -- Effect > Normalize: [X]Remove DC, [X]Normalize to -3.2 > OK And that gave me the attached. They can all be perfectly accurate, but you do have to define your terms. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=297423#p297423 We designed ACX-Test as an add-on to Audacity in order to simulate the technical specification robot you're going to hit when you submit to ACX. http://wiki.audacity...

Re: Choppy sound
The Effects > Change XXX tools are pretty simple and it's easy to "run out." None of them take into account content and that's usually what people want. For example, Change Pitch isn't what people really want when they try to make an "Announcer Voice." The tool has to know how a ...

Re: Save MP3 files without metadata
The metadata dialog is a setting. I believe MP3 files have space for metadata. Whether you elect to put anything in there is up to you.

Re: Project File Won't Open ~ 'Can't find data'
_DATA is not a file. _DATA is a folder with your audio in it. This is what a normal Project looks like. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg They have to have the same name and they have to be in the same folder, location or directory. I got that picture from my desktop. Koz

Before we're very far out of the gate, I can tell you the Booth-Out to Audacity recording device is incorrect. I'm assuming this is how you're producing the distorted recording. My choice for Mixer Out to Computer In is the high-quality, bi-directional Stereo Behringer UCA202. http://www.kozco.com/t...

some people still use them. Exactly correct. Lori (my lorry) and my sister's car which she got down through family inheritance still play Audio CDs. I prepare disks for her and send them through US Postal Service. You may be experiencing the Fukushima effect. Apparently, one of the very high qualit...

Re: How Do I Cut a Verse out of a hymn
Import the music. I would put those two numbers in at the bottom of the Audacity edit window in Start and End . Edit > Delete. That didn't work? Once you get it the way you want it, File > Export the file type of your choice. Hopefully WAV (Microsoft). If you need an MP3, you need to add the Lame so...

Tape player? Oh, you mean McD's background music? That's a good thing. Probably the only thing worse is a McD that naturally assumes you want to listen and watch "TV" which will turn out to be the McD Television Network programming. I gotta read 1984 again. Didn't he have the TV that would...
