Re: Skype Recording missing caller
The Pamela versions and promotions change. I try to link to their generic product page. They used to have four versions, depending on how crazy and/or professional you need to get. Their big deal is a real company with real updates and support. And yes, they know what Skype is thinking about enough ...

Re: Skype Recording missing caller
As written, I did my Skype recording test with two computers, not fancy software. The forum had one (1) complaint about Pamela and that turned out to be the poster using it incorrectly. Easily fixed.

Re: Noise Floor
You know those people on the beach waving metal detectors around? You do that with your microphone. One possibility is finding a spot where the noise and its reflection from one wall cancel. Mark that place.

Re: Noise Floor
I have not listened yet. There is a cartoon way to achieve a quieter room. You leave the appliances running and set up your microphone and headphones for a conventional recording except you turn the headphone volume up and don't speak. Now walk around the room with the microphone listening carefully...

Re: Skype Recording missing caller
The party line is that Audacity doesn't reliably record Skype or any chat or conference service. Skype in particular is vicious about turning the computer's sound systems to do what it wants and what you want just isn't considered. Sometimes it's just unstable. "It worked last week and now it d...

Re: Noise Floor
I can't take credit for the -80dB. That clip ticked an attention point. It's too good. -96 is the absolute minimum audio noise where all "molecular activity stops." Nobody records down there. Given your clip was heavily processed (nobody records high RMS, either. That was another tick), s...

Re: Play, from paused, jumps to the start for no reason
Play always plays the current selection. If you have nothing selected, it assumes the whole document. Updating your Audacity isn't going to help, but should you decide to, Audacity 2.1.2 is available from here. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ As you noted, Pause is a suspension of proc...
