I don't know you can do noise reduction on this. For noise reduction to work you have to have to be able to find clear noise with no voice. That's going to be rough.
I think I would equalize first. Noise reduction can produce choppy work and make further corrections sound terrible.

Re: Condenser mic not recognized
I think I'm not the only one who found it worked pretty well. That was the problem. I have other products like it and they're pretty awful. I have Shure X2U which was not cheap. I've never used it for a job. It doesn't get loud enough even set to full volume and that's just the way it is. It's just ...

Re: Condenser mic not recognized
I don't know that I would go to a lot of effort to get the computer Mic-In (pink?) to work. That's intended for business Skype meetings and other voice work. There's lots of reasons it's not particularly good for music. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCHeadset.jpg It's not that it's a high p...

Re: Better Noise-Reduction option?
We totally want to hear it. Record a second or two of silence and then 8 seconds of stereo playing (two blue waves) or 18 seconds of mono (one blue wave). Export WAV (Microsoft). Scroll down from a forum text window > Upload Attachment > Browse. There's a pretty serious limit on the length of sample...

Re: Recording from previous tracks transfer to new automatic
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > [X] Overdub... That should be the only thing selected. Do you like to record YouTube or other on-line sound? Those sound settings can mess up overdubbing. Make sure you're recording directly from your instrument or other digital interface , not a fold-back "fake...

Ah, yes, That does work. If you explicitly post the extension, your extension will be used.I meant in the export window

Re: Unable to get libavformat.55.dylib
I think maybe you're viewing this a little too closely. This is the download page for FFMpeg. http://lame.buanzo.org/#lameosxdl FFmpeg is the software package that does all the detailed translation and conversions for Audacity. Follow the install instructions. The correct install may or may not invo...

Re: Temporary files
Someone will correct me, but I don't think it's a fixed bucket that you throw things into. I think it's a balloon that expands as needed.

Re: Better Noise-Reduction option?
There is Noise Gate. I think it's an optional add-on effect. That one tries to figure out when you stop talking and it slams the sound to silence. It usually sounds about that good.

There's no other tools I know of.

Re: Better Noise-Reduction option?
I can remove the background noise and static I want to with the NR effect And that's usually the mistake. The old tool was called Noise Removal and we changed it because too many people expected it to removed noise to zero . It doesn't do that. It won't turn your messy, hissy, noisy live recording ...
