This is not editing/editorial. This is disaster recovery and I've never heard that distortion before.

Re: Set Sample Rate question
Audacity doesn't have Clip INFO (feature request) and sometimes likes to convert in the background to "help you." I'd be a lot happier if you got a separate program to tell you what you had. - MEDIA INFO http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download There's a trick to downloading the versio...

Re: Set Sample Rate question
Mono you can set with Audacity preferences.
You can set the sample rate with the little window in the lower left. Everything else can be set with file > Export Audio > Other Uncompressed File Types.

Re: Condenser mic not recognized
I heard back from Sweetwater. Yes, the UM2 comes with a USB cable in the box. I'd be shocked if the higher-end UMC22 didn't have one as well. If you get it from them, it also comes with JuJuBes, Sweetarts and Tootsie Rolls when they ship..... in October. I wonder if I can sell mine and retire on the...

Re: Condenser mic not recognized
Which phone? This is where you start pushing back into the data pool. To be clear, nobody here owns a UMC22. We're working from the terrific reputation of Behringer and I like the little brother UM2. Let us know how it comes out. There was one review which claimed ASIO and other fancy software was n...

Re: Condenser mic not recognized
Maybe not any more? Two things pros have to put up with which come as a shock to newbies are reshoots because you messed something up and outright fail. They both happen on a regular basis.I'm in a rap contest that takes votes to qualify for the finals and I don't have much time.

I left a note to complain about the holes in the documentation. We'll see what they say.

Re: Recording a Skype Call with a Blue Yeti
Neither Skype nor Audacity "play well with others" as you're finding. If you do manage to force the recording to work, chances are good Skype will stop working. There are some people who just load the software, fire the whole thing up, record a podcast and go home. Those people are unicorn...

Re: Better Noise-Reduction option?
What happened on Part-1 at 4 seconds? Until 4 seconds, that's a very high level of hiss (ffffffff) but maybe OK depending on how much stuff you have connected. At 4 seconds, it goes into spaceship special effects swishing and giggling and then the music hits. All of Part-2 has killer hiss in the bac...

Re: Condenser mic not recognized
And just to keep from getting too obsessive about this Behringer thing, you're still replacing a sound mixer with a shortcut. These two happen to be particularly good shortcuts. My tiny mixer has three different places to adjust microphone volume, not one. Each one is adjusted differently for differ...
