I don't need ESL. Every other person I know is at minimum bi-lingual. I'm learning ASL.

Re: Can .aup be used in the chain?
AUP isn't a command. It's a list of instructions in XML format what to do with all that stuff in the _DATA folder which is where all the sound is. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg That's an AUP file in picture form. It won't fit on a forum page. It's been cleaned up a little with added spaces...

These interfaces are used with a computer microphone. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone-500.jpg Or a headset (I guess they're calling it a Headphone Set ) A Headset is a...

Re: Mysterious digital corruption during recording
i recently discovered that many of my files have been corrupted by a strange digital sounding distortion. Which files? The ones you've been doing on the new machine or the older machine? I've been known to listen to the Mac rather than the interface to guard against surprises like this. Yes, it's &...

Re: Noise reduction in poor quality audio recording
This isn't Noise Reduction as much as Disaster Recovery which we don't do so well. You need to be able to clearly hear the speech to know when they stop talking long enough to get the Noise Reduction Profile part of the process. That's where you let Noise Reduction "taste" or "sniff&q...

Re: Audacity imports RAW at twice the speed, sometimes
In raw capture, you have to tell the system everything. If it thinks the sample rate is off you can get off-speed presentation.

Re: a clock
If it's set to Auto Update your timeline, Audacity will give you a running elapsed time in the band right above the blue waves. Audacity > Preferences > Tracks > [X] Update.... (select). I sense a misconception about how to create a podcast. Only the broadcast people need to "hit the clock"...

Re: Audacity and Roland D5
Just going from the words, you have an adapter that provides a stereo headphone connection and a mono microphone connection suitable for a computer headset or stand-alone computer microphone. I use an ICUSBAUDIO from Startech to do the same thing. Neither of these has a place to connect a high-volum...
