Re: How do you remove the sound of breath?

Need to find out if ACX accepts WAV for a final project. They don't. They insist on MP3 submission. http://www.acx.com/help/acx-audio-submission-requirements/201456300 Scroll down in this post to "There's a trick to submission." http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=307903#p307903...

Re: using arecord to record from USB Audio Capture device

Audacity will not work with two different shows at the same time and it doesn't play well with others. It doesn't understand sharing devices. Same reason it has trouble with Skype.

Re: file size upload attachment limit inconsistent at this f

It's been 2MB as far as I know. That gives you twenty seconds of mono WAV or ten seconds of stereo at 44100, 16-bit with elbow room for error. You probably shouldn't post in anything else unless told because of compression distortion. Links to external file services is a grand idea. Remember to cond...

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?

I am subcontracted Ah. So you're the audio Philosopher's Stone, tasked with turning base dialogs into gold. Some of this is easy to edit; some not so much. I worked on The McLaughlin Group, apparently still on the air. Camera was challenging because you never knew which of the four guests was going...

Re: Exporting to MP3

I have a really good idea why they do it. It's "safe." If they created a much higher volume sound work, you have the possibility of announcing too loud and creating overload. In short, that's when the digital audio system "runs out of numbers" and starts creating very serious, ob...

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?

When I join the two, the change in tone is jarring. Almost like one is a cellphone and the other is a landline? You have no choice but to find the least-worst custom equalization by experiment and apply it in the largest phrase chunks you can, individually, one after the other. You'll need to balan...

Re: Deaf in right ear - what settings could help?

By the way, if you do record for audiobooks, there is a common trap. You can rescue a ratty recording into an ACX compliant recording, but it will likely fail Human Quality Control as "over processed."

It can't sound like a bad cellphone.

Re: Deaf in right ear - what settings could help?

Talking in a wine glass sound can be the result of MP3 (or other compression) distortion, or overuse of noise reduction. Both are not recoverable. Go back to the original shoot...or re-shoot.

Re: Mysterious digital corruption during recording

Can you make it worse? I know it may seem counterproductive, but if you can change the problem in any way, it may give us a clue how to cure it.

Re: Creating an Audio CD after Audacity is done

We may be able to help by accident.

Standard Audio CD disks do not have headings, titles or graphics. Those are special purpose multi-media disks. Someone here may accidentally know how to make those, but Audacity doesn't burn anything.
