Re: Problem Playing/Recording Onto Music File
Look at the Audacity Device Toolbar and make sure Audacity is trying to send the playback music to the right place. It's not unusual for Windows to scramble this if you plug in a USB audio device, particularly if it thinks your device is good for playback and record. It could be trying to send the p...

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?
One other handy tool. I use these so automatically I lose them. There is a button at the bottom of the text windows called "Preview." That will show you what the final post is going to look like without showing the whole world. That's when you find you applied the tags wrong or in the wron...
Re: a clock
Writing the manual is sweeping the floor after the party has gone home and recording an instructional video is particularly rewarding after you find there are errors in the video...and you recorded it for the wrong Audacity version. I had no idea there was a book. That's an artifact..... The most fu...

Re: Static while recording podcast
Minor quibble. Audacity doesn't make a 2.1 version and some bogus and bad versions have odd numbers. Post some of the work. Drag-select about ten seconds of noisy recording. File > Export Selected Audio: WAV (Microsoft) and post it here. Scroll down from a forum window to Upload attachment > Browse....

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?
no instructions on how to use the "Quote" button, for instance. I use some of those controls wrong, but it's instructive as to how they work. Those decorative controls are all tags and you can type them manually. Screen Shot 2016-07-01 at 10.42.08.png This text will be quoted This text wi...

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?
This is a thing on Equalization. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/equalization.html And here's the thing on Plot Spectrum. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/plot_spectrum.html In theory, you plot spectrum on a portion of normal voice and save that via screen capture (Audacity will not put two of ...

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?
Once I got the EQ set World peace might be easier. Go for that. This is a juggling act between Analyze > Plot Spectrum and Effect > Equalization. Plot Spectrum is a readout of what you did and Equalization is the action tool. Both tools get clearer and more detailed as you grab one corner and pull ...

Re: How to deal with big change in tone?
I tried a "by eye" version of that earlier, and even though mine was terrible, I think you can do it, too. But you still have to select each dialog fragment by hand and fake the ones that overlap. What fun.

Re: Audacity cannot see and audio device
Windows has to be able to see devices before Audacity has access. Audacity doesn't support ASIO, so if it's an ASIO device, Audacity will not connect to it. Audacity checks for new devices when it starts. If you connect anything after Audacity starts it will be invisible. Restart Audacity or Transpo...

Re: How do you remove the sound of breath?
Please note that even if you do pass the automated ACX Robot at the beginning of the submission (similar to ACX-Test here on the forum) Human Quality Control is still going to bounce it if they can find pulsing or odd background noises or other evidence of excessive processing. They would call it di...
