Re: Audacity Randomly Stops Recording

Version 2.21. Audacity doesn't make a 2.21. There are bogus versions of Audacity out there with "funny" numbers. You can get Windows Audacity 2.1.2 from here. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ If you want to start "clean," select Reset Preferences and Settings during...

Re: Boring bump to start recording

I predict (holding fingers to forehead) you are feeding the soundcard Mic-In battery back into the sound system along with your show. That will give you a terrific pop or tick in the sound. As in the above post, Mic-In is suitable for a computer microphone... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/compu...

Re: Making the Voice Sound Better - are there macros?

What's the address? Did you try it? There's a sharp dividing line between Sweetening and Disaster Recovery. Most people want us to turn their badly recorded voice track into an ACX AudioBook submission. Almost without exception we can't do that and depending on what you did wrong, nobody can. Let's ...

Re: How to get equal volume level across several tracks

several tracks mixed together as 1 Audacity track. The best (most accurate) way is to adjust the levels by ear before you mix the tracks. It's killer difficult to take a mixed performance apart and correct only pieces. This is the same problem that podcast people have when they need to correct only...

Re: Input option for recording dj set

You didn't say which Mac you had, some of them can switch connections in software. The older 13" MBP can switch one connection between microphone and stereo line and change direction. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound . That's the basic panel that allows you to do switching and ad...

Re: Input option for recording dj set

The newer Macs don't come with a stereo connection (the one on the left). http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg I bought a new, older model MacBook Pro specifically to get that connection. The MacBook Air is stuck with one of my UCA-202s or equivalent. http://www.kozco.com/tech/au...

Re: recording voice while listening to guitar track

using Audacity 2.12 if recently downloaded Really and truly? Audacity doesn't make a version 2.12. http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ I know this is pretty basic; nevertheless I can't move forward unless I have "clean tracks" to work with. It's not basic. It's a special conditi...

Re: Boring bump to start recording

You can drag-select and si L ence it with Control-L. This is generating a lot of puzzled looks because Audacity traditionally doesn't apply effects, filters or tools during recording. This against millions of people who want us to. Nope. Sorry. If you Stop the recording (not Pause) and then start it...
