Re: 16 bit or 24 or 32 float for ACX?
Missed one. Audacity operates in 32-bit, floating. It does that so there is no sound damage no matter which effects you use or in what order. The one place where Audacity actually creates noise is sound file export. When you make a sound file from your show, Audacity has to convert from 32-bit float...

Re: What Filter Curve is this?
the displayed curve name only persists for the current session. Exactly what I'm trying to get away from. I think you're working too hard. Any user action in the effect resets the name. If you repeatedly execute the same effect, the name sticks. Load a different curve or touch any of the balls, Boo...

Re: Any tips for recording rain
I always end up just having too much popping as rain hits the mic. [ cringe ] Did the microphone still work after that? Rain isn't easy. Also see: recording surf. youtube channel that does soundscapes One of the two public broadcasting stations in LA has a transition/bumper that I really like. Afte...

What Filter Curve is this?
I do have a complaint.
I load a factory curve into Effect > Filter Curve. It arrives and its identity vanishes. It should announce somewhere in the frame what it is unless I change it.

I applied the three tools in Audiobook Mastering and your file passes ACX. Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
Does Desibilator do anything if it's not needed? If there is no haystack, nothing happens, right?
I'm building up to the Audiobook Mastering Macro. The only reason there isn't an anointed one now is that stupid RMS/LUFS defect.

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
desibilator threshold on a case-by-case basis. Oh right. It's level dependent. Does it have to be? Essing is objectionable not because the tones in the haystack are loud, it's that the haystack tones are too loud i n relation to the rest of the tones in the performance. You can sense overall RMS. C...

Re: How do I remove noise from a set of files?
Audacity famously has no knowledge of the original file. There is no Get INFO. It exports using last used parameters. If I export MP3 right now, it will use 192 quality which is the value I used last week.Is there a similar thing in Audacity?

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
--- Desibilator Settings --- I understand I'm supposed to go through all the craziness of figuring out where the Essing Hump is. EssingBefore-Illustrated.jpg Let's suppose I don't do that. Let's suppose I always assume Essing is between 4000Hz and 18000Hz. That does two things. It makes application ...

Re: How do I remove noise from a set of files?
to minimize that export at the highest rate of 320 kbps. And just to be clear, that will greatly increase the digital size of the files—a violation of your requirement. You can get noise-free files with compression distortion, or perfect, noisy files. Never do production in MP3. It's a land mine. I...
