Re: Chris Compressor Inexplicably Failing
"Amplify" is limited to +/- 50 dB I can certify it won't do -60. I also have evidence of it acting oddly. Generate Noise at 0.3 amplitude, Amplify it -40dB and rejoice in a -20dB noise track. This has not gone well. Rather than beat this up at great length, I'm going to do all the editing...

Re: RMS 35, SOS!
Not hearing back from the author is cause for concern particularly if they're writing the checks. Not hearing from ACX doesn't surprise me. Every third posting on the forum is from someone seriously considering reading for ACX AudioBooks. Extrapolating that to the general population that's several m...

Re: Issues while applying stereo affects in audacity
I didn't see anyplace where this is an Audacity problem. Fake Stereo You can import the stereo track, split it in two with the drop-down menu on the left, delay one track with the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows, keep listening until you get what you want) and then put it back together wi...

Anything in here help? Screen Shot 2016-07-19 at 8.40.51 PM.png Stock QuickTime is a Movie Player and pretty much useless for production. Unlike QuickTime 7 Pro. QT7 Pro is a full-on production tool and may be what you're looking for, Last I checked, it's paid software, so if it has to be free, keep...

Why did you pick Normalize for that rather than Amplify?

Re: Need a little help with a Skype recording hack.
There is a way out of this. After struggling with this for ages, we generated a stand-alone computer whose sole job was to be a silent subscriber to the conference. No microphone, but it recorded the far side, basically everything, perfectly. We couldn't do it on one machine, either. That's a cousin...

Re: Sample WAV file evaluation requested
it sounds smoother if De-Clicker is applied That works well, doesn't it? I wonder why that grit didn't show up when I listened to it. I'll listen again when I get back in the house. the file is raw. That's impressive. I can achieve that level of first-pass quality but it's hard work. That explains ...

Re: Recording sound from a keyboard
first step into the world of music More than one. My musical keyboard has no stereo line-out, so I adapt the headphone connection to RCAs. My system is a little more complicated than a single UCA-202, but I do own one and that does work. http://www.kozco.com/tech/organfinale.mp3 Further, the UCA-20...

Cool. Somebody else with naturally bent blue waves. Did you catch that your blue waves look a little like they got too hot and they melted a little; that you have more blue on the bottom than on the top? My voice is almost exactly the opposite. Screen Shot 2016-07-19 at 13.16.05.png It did take a wh...

Re: Upgraded
"Project" means an audio show or performance? "onto a disc" means burn an Audio CD? If you use too many fuzzy words, we have to ask what you really want. Audacity will not make an MP3 compressed audio file without installing additional software, but that doesn't make any differen...
