Re: Sample Analysis Please!
We keep making a big deal about the headphones because they're required if you don't have a killer sound system. Somehow you or someone needs to be able to hear what you're doing. Yes, some people announce with headphones and some don't. It can be handy if you're announcing for a long while to keep ...

Re: Sample Analysis Please!
The purple lumpy thing is Analyze > Plot Spectrum. "Size" setting increase causes the detail (sharpness/accuracy) in the display to increase. Loud is up. Musical pitch increases, goes up, left to right. 20Hz and 20,000Hz are the limits of normal human hearing. 20Hz is where earthquakes and...

Re: audacity wont recognize my usb external mic
How about you "woke up" Audacity and it was a ready running? Audacity checks for new hardware and devices when it starts. Either restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan...Then open Audacity but can't get it to see the mic.

Re: How to hear headphone playback w/overdubbing ART usb mix
The mixer documentation never says the magic words "Zero Latency Monitoring," But it left-handedly suggests that maybe if you don't press the USB to CH2&CH3 button, the USB playback might appear in your headphones. It might also appear in the show mix. It's hard to know. Audacity > Edi...

Re: Problems in Recording Yamaha Keyboard
I have a PSR-240 and a larger DGX-505. Neither one has a Stereo Line-Out so I record the headphone connection on both. http://www.kozco.com/tech/organfinale.mp3 Is that what you're doing? You didn't say in the post. Do actual headphones work in place of that cable? The Windows sound control panels s...

Re: Ask for advice - Creating podcast
If you get instructions for capturing a Skype podcast on-line by just a few clicks and settings or simple fold-back software, you should try that. Some people can make that work. One poster, ChaseisFDR, produced The Reel Life Podcast with nothing more exciting than a computer, Skype and Audacity. He...

Re: Ask for advice - Creating podcast
I recut the podcast experiment that I shot with that two-computer system. Other than that, it's the original sound quality and volume. That's exactly as I shot it. It's still very much an experiment, but you can see the quality I was able to get using plain Skype. Denise is talking into her MacBook ...

Re: Ask for advice - Creating podcast
Is it possible to record my voice from my microphone and the sound from the conference call (= my friends’ voices)? No. Not reliably. That's the problem. Skype likes to take over the sound channels in the computer. That's why it's so successful. It doesn't just ask the computer for sound channels, ...
