Re: adding a device on audacity
I can't get anybody to show me the rear of the mixer, but if it's "normal," you have analog stereo outputs as either big, three-pin XLR http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/XLR-Cable-500.jpg Or RCAs like my mixer. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyTapeOut.jpg Unless you have a Mac...

Re: Export in MP3
It says I need FFMpeg. Which it ? There are a lot of bad Audacity training postings telling you to do incorrect things. FFMpeg is the software that allows Audacity to open and export many more different types of sound files than it does by itself. It doesn't have anything to do with MP3. Installing...

Re: No line in option for Mac
I tried everything. I bet you didn't try buying a Benringer UCA-202. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650.jpg There's no good way to force a computer that doesn't have a stereo Line-In to fake a stereo Line-In. Other options include the UCAC-222 with the sporty red paint jo...

Re: Sound quality issues when recording over pre existing tr
Can we say this a slightly different way; it only happens when you have Overdubbing selected? -- Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [X] Overdub... should be the only thing selected. This is an odd overdubbing problem. Past the people who get it to work first time out of the gate, the usual ...

Re: Converting mp3 audio to WAV
WAV is a "perfect" sound format. It's always at maximum bitrate and has very few options. 44100, 16-bit, Stereo is the sound format of an Audio CD—also the Audacity default format. 48000, 16-bit, Stereo is the sound format of non-surround video. Audacity will be happy to convert an MP3 to ...

Re: Audacity won't record after I got a new HOSA cable
6 feet is often regarded as the maximum for a USB cable for audio purposes. They make much longer cables, but they're used for non-critical devices such as mice or keyboards. Would you even know that your mouse was skipping 1/32 of an inch every so often? That kind of error is deadly in audio. Koz

The desk is an Ikea Jerker® (pronounced "yurkah"), unfortunately, no longer supplied. The chair is an Ikea folding, black Franklin®, still very much a current product.

Re: Sample WAV file evaluation requested
How many years have you done voiceover work That would be zero. My hat says engineer. Many of my illustrations are from shoots where I was the recording engineer. That podcast sound clip? That was an engineering test. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/DenisePodcastHeavilyCut.mp3 That's why in ge...

Re: Help with sending full project to someone else
They won't be able to use the Audacity Project at all, but if the goal is to use the lower-case project or show, then the work will have to be transmitted through exported individual WAV files, carefully built out to retain the musical timing.they won't be able to use the project at all.

Re: Audio shortens in camtasia
Is the Camtasia track high-pitch and squeaky, or does it get four seconds into a regular clip and stop dead?
