Re: burning discs

Right. Audacity doesn't burn anything. You need an Audio CD Authoring and Burning program and I think Windows Media will still do that. Consult your Windows instructions. I'm not a Windows elf. You can put the MP3 on your Personal Music Player, but don't put it on a CD. The Audacity high quality def...

Re: Merging separate audio files

The MUTE and SOLO buttons allow you to listen to any one or combination of tracks. I'm curious what you were going to use as a sync point. Everybody was going to start their recorder at a different time, so you can't use track-start as sync. But wait, there's more. Unless you got insanely lucky, the...

Re: Extreme Power Line Hum

That sounds like you already tried to process it. Do you have a raw clip? Before you did anything to it?

Re: Merging separate audio files

My friends and I did a thing over skype and we each recorded separately. Ah. So your three files are intended to play at once. I hope you used WAV and not MP3. File > Import one, File > import two and File > import three. All three will stack up top to bottom and play at the same time. Did you prov...

Re: Did I lose my recording?

Did you try View > Fit Vertically? When I make a new recording, the new track pushes the old one up so it's not visible any more. If I make the window taller or force a fit, both tracks magically appear. However. That sounds exactly like my favorite problem. I never pressed Record for the interview....

Re: Why won't Audacity work on my recording?

16-2/3rds for very long playing records. Generally spoken word performances from the library. If your needle and type of record already match, you're probably not going to get the dramatic bump in quality solving a cross would give you. Cleaning is good. When you get a pass and it's reasonable (goo...

Re: Not recording computer audio

Windows 10 was installed. Windows 10 is not a gentle upgrade. It's a whole new operating system. You need to make sure all your sound equipment, drivers and software are Windows 10 certified or compliant. Which soundcard have you got? Does the manufacturer offer a Win10 update to the driver softwar...

Re: How do I undo `Fade out` on a saved project

If you haven't exited Audacity yet, it's Edit > UNDO. If you have, it's too late. Even if you saved an Audacity Project, you're stuck. Projects save a lot of things, but UNDO isn't one of them. I can't picture in my imagination what you did. I guess if you accidentally had all of your tracks top to ...

Re: Beginner advice please - Audacity on Mac

The picture is a Windows laptop with pink Mic-In. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound-650.jpg It supplies the voltage and management the microphone needs by just plugging it in. TP-7 with the little adapter, TP-8 without. For machines with no Mic-In like my older Mac, I use a StarTe...
