Re: recorded track plays back double speed

Just so we don't get too lost. Computers work in 32-bit or 64-bit instructions. That's a Windows internal thing. That's Operating System efficiency and computer code processing. It has nothing to do with sound. Applications can work faster and with better efficiency if they can speak 64 bit, but it'...

Re: Isolating channels / noise reduction

That's post production. The holy grail is push a button and everything will be OK. Noise Gates are rough to adjust so they don't sound choppy or the main performer doesn't drop out here and there. Each performer is going to have to be adjusted individually, so pack a lunch. You can help during the r...

Re: exporting to cd

Windows Media and iTunes on a Mac are both Audio CD Authoring and Burning software. Export WAV (Microsoft) from Audacity and open the music or sound in one of those two. Past knowing how to run the burner, the software will also allow you to rearrange the song order and the spaces between songs. Reg...

Re: Remove Selective Vocals

Vocal Reduction isn't like other tools. When you get done, you don't have the original show minus the vocals. It's a different show with different stereo separation and other artifacts. You can't easily use it as a building block for other effects. See if any of those tricks works, but you may get o...

Re: Recording WAV vs. MP3

what is it that happens to an MP3? Just compression? It's not "just compression." The main problem with MP3 is the sound damage increases every time you edit the work. Ever had the experience of downloading music and making a dance or party mix, but the mix sounds a little more like a cel...

Re: recording maxing out at -5

Running the waves and meters at 50% makes me crazy being an obsessive engineer. My head keeps saying this is an emergency measure not intended for regular production. But if you go this route, the waves and meters should look totally normal , just half size. Sharp tips and no flat tops or bottoms. -...

Re: recording maxing out at -5

Right then. The PreSonus is a two-channel device intended to be captured in stereo (two blue waves), not mono. So if you set up Audacity to capture in stereo, it should produce a normal recording. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg Except your show will have one of the...

Re: recording maxing out at -5

Like this?

That's what happens when you try to plug something other than a microphone into a computer Mic-In. That's the usual cause anyway.

Did I hit it?

No giggles.

Re: Input from microphone

Yes.

We can fill in the details if you tell us more about your computer, microphone and the show you want to produce.

And which Audacity are you using by numbers? This machine is using Audacity 2.1.2.

Re: Remove Selective Vocals

http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html The setup is a little wacky because suddenly you have to worry about latency delays and other adjustments to make sure the new and old tracks line up. This can also fall apart if you're on an underpowered computer. Audac...
