Re: recording
That's overdubbing. Provide a base or rhythm track, play that back into headphones while you record the guitar part on a second track. And then play any combination of those back and sing for a third track. And so on. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html Th...

Re: Lost file
I can create a simple voice test that passes ACX right out of the studio recording. I've done it twice. No filters or effects. Except Amplify. Recommended peak waves for recording are -6dB. The peaks for ACX are -3dB, so you're likely to have to change the volume a little no matter what. But no Com...
Re: Lost file
Could you do us a favor and post a clicky, essy sound test? Create it in mono WAV roughly according to this formula: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html "Sister Suzy samples sausages by the sea shore." Any text or presentation you hate. Don't filter it or apply a...
Re: Lost file
What are you using for a microphone? Newer microphones hit high pitch, harsh tones really hard because "It Sounds More Professional." It also hurts my ears. It hurts other's ears, too, so that gave rise to the De-Esser list and custom equalization curves to get rid of the excessive crispne...

Re: Creating Stereo From Mono
It was recorded at a very small bar/restaurant about 20 ft. from the stage. What app did you use? So you already have plenty of room echo and reverb in the recording. You might try, while the main and copy are still separate, delaying one without the other. Use The Time Shift Tool (two sideways bla...
Re: Lost file
I mostly do audio books. Announce them? How many books are published? ACX/AudioBook? I find it really hard to get good results from that plug-in. Noise Gate reads better on the package than it actually works. Your experience is perfectly normal. I wanted to save it without doing any post-production...

Re: Audio Setup Help
I could find this information with enough searching I'm sure. I'm not sure. Most new users reel off a list of production requirements expecting it to be a software download or two and you're good to go. There are a couple of celebrities that actually got that to work, but for most of us it's a lot ...
