Re: How to create more headroom in the file?

Somebody recently got burned with this: Export your raw edit or performance as WAV (Microsoft) before you start messing with it. put the safety export in a separate place like its own folder or thumb drive. Compression is one of the effects we can't take out later. Once you say OK and close Audacity...

Re: How to create more headroom in the file?

The compressors will do that.

Effect > Compressor
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/compressor.html

Normalize to -1 before and after you compress. That way the only thing changing will be the compression.

Mess with the Ratio. The higher, the stiffer and louder the sound.

Re: Improving audio quality with Samson Go

Oh, and yes, the traditional way to get rid of popping is a pop and blast filter. That's the round gauzy thing in front of the microphone. But if you don't have a boom or mic stand, that's going to be rough to do.

Re: Improving audio quality with Samson Go

There is a microphone technique that may be handy. Move the microphone to the left—sort of opposite your cheek rather than straight in front of your lips. Most if not all of the popping should go away with little affect on the volume. Are you discovering the reason people graduate to a microphone bo...

I probably wouldn't give an army to a dead monarch, either. I can only find two actual problems with your presentation on "Pink Diamond." You are PPopping your PP sounds. This is an extreme example. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/PPopping.mp3 It sounds like Chase has his mouth jammed...

Re: HOW TO RECORD A MAGIC JACK PHONE CALL USING THE PHONE

Apparently (somehow), the USB system, as exists in my laptop, equally sends (into Audacity), the USB Mic AND the “USB Internet Phone” (ie the MagicJack Phone). The fact that this is so easy to set-up (~automatic inside my laptop), and works so well, is pretty amazing. And that may be the shortcomin...

Re: saving premix tracks

This is an Audacity project. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The AUP file is instructions what to do with all that stuff in the _DATA folder. Double click the AUP file and it should launch Audacity and open the show. This is not going to work if you changed the names. ...

Re: Audio Setup Help

Mine is the small version. I, too have seen people do this. This is the Pando Podcast and they do it the way I did, only they're much more comprehensive with individual note-taking computers as well as the music computer and the streaming manager. Count the laptops. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pi...

Re: Audio Setup Help

You may be shaking your head in disdain at this, I'm not. You're already miles ahead of most posters who want to do this. I note you didn't answer several of the questions. Where is the guest? I did this with a mixer, but I used two computers, one for music playback and Audacity record of the mixed...
