Re: attempting insertion while editing a recording

That's it. Edit > Clip Boundaries > Split. I could not figure out where Split was hiding (or what it was called). You don't need any of the other odd drag-selections, intervals, etc. Just point to the place you want to put the insert and Edit > Clip Boundaries > Split. A heavy line will appear and y...

Re: Best size for recording room? And what acoustic foam to

That's just microphone hiss and should respond well to gentle noise reduction. Voice signals from a microphone don't start out loud enough to be useful. They start out molecular-level tiny and boosting that voice signal loud enough to be useful is a really big deal. The closer you get to home qualit...

Re: Recording noise getting worse... not better

One note about this. Macs seem to encourage you to launch applications and then just leave them napping in the dock instead of closing them. Do you have a little indicator like a glow or a dot under the application you have running? You can just barely see in in the screen grab. Screen Shot 2016-09-...

Re: Recording noise getting worse... not better

Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor. I leave that parked in my Dock and launch it on occasion. I started to do that when I discovered how much junk was loading when I "read the paper." Both Chrome and FireFox do this. I opened up Los Angeles Times, read a bit, Washington Post, read a bit and...

Re: Record directly into Audacity from external audio record

Do you have a connection that looks like the one on the left? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg If you do, then yes. If you don't, then you have between 20% and 30% chance of being able to force your Mac to accept a stereo connection. If it's a newer Mac. 0%. Many more people ...

Re: A good example of passing ACXCheck, but still producing

Perhaps just traffic filtered through double glazed windows? That would be too easy. Actually, consumer USB microphones are sometimes made with that kind of noise built in [!!]. Getting rid of it costs money and nobody is chomping at the bit to spend more money on a microphone. Besides, who cares? ...

Re: Emailing Audio Files

I'm assuming you know Audacity won't produce an MP3 file without adding the LAME software.

Scroll down.

Re: Emailing Audio Files

It just makes my teeth hurt when someone ships high quality original work around in a less than perfect quality. Of course, if the object is just to listen, then MP3 export is perfectly valid. The advantage of WAV and MP3 is total compatibility to everybody living between the two pole of Earth. The ...

Yeah. Pull the zoom landing zone in a bit.

I, too, have zoomed in error.
