Re: Question regarding transferring cassette to audacity
If that's the only thing wrong and it's a simple transfer then yes. Left-hand, drop-down menu > Split to Mono. Delete the silent track. * Select the remaining track by clicking just above MUTE. Duplicate (Control-D) Upper track left-hand, drop-down menu > Make Stereo Track. * Right there you could h...

Do you know about Activity Monitor? Screen Shot 2016-09-20 at 4.35.03 PM.png Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor. I keep a copy of it in the dock and run it when I think there's something odd. That's how I found one of the newspapers I read was taking 175% of the CPU (two processors) in formatting, lo...

Re: saving tracks
If you saved an Audacity Project, then it should be possible to open the Project and all the individual tracks should pop back up. That's its job. Alternately, you can select each track one at a time by clicking above MUTE and File > Export Selected. If you exported a sound file without selecting an...

the whole circuit into a friend's laptop/audacity Including the iMic? I'm not an iMic fan. Mine is nestled snugly in a box in the garage. However, if it worked on another computer, my next thing to go wrong is the USB. Lower End audio devices like the iMic depend for their very life on the 5 volt b...

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?
If you have a bad connection, you may never get the USB light when you plug it back in. Try, try again. So that saves a bunch of steps, too. If the USB light will not stay on steady, you are, as the technical phrase goes, in doo-doo.

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?
And you can eliminate all the steps by playing Order of Appearance. Close the laptop and/or sleep with the microphone connected . Then disconnect it. ~time passes~ Connect the microphone first . The USB light may flash while the Mac figures out what's going on. Wait for it to come on steady (you'll ...

I can shorten The Dance, too. Next time it vanishes, replug it, wait a beat or two for the Mac to catch up to you and Transport > Rescan...

Re: Can Audacity Remember a Microphone?
I can save you one step. You can set the recording device from the Audacity front panel at the little microphone symbol setting. Screen Shot 2016-09-20 at 08.46.09.png I'll try the variations when I get home. You just close your laptop, right? It goes to sleep and then wakes up not knowing what's go...

Re: After a restart, .aup files do not open *Manual Recovery

I double click the AUP file and the show usually just opens. .aup files X 3 That would be the last three project saves? None of them open? Are you given to putting dates in the filenames? Punctuation marks?...
